Reasonably priced and decent quality food, this cafe has a great location and sirs a good tea. I had a club panini and really enjoyed the chips and salad but felt the club itself could have been improved quite easily if prepared a little better.

I was so disappointed with this place today. We came for lunch about half 2. It was quite busy but we got a table straight away. Took a while for someone to come and clear it but the staff had already given us menus so we perused what was on offer. We had about 45 mins before we had to get the car so we only ordered sandwiches. A family of 4 had come in on the next table after us but their food (4 cooked meals including an all day breakfast bap) not only came first but they had finished their meals and there was still no sign of our 2 sandwiches. We decided we had to go or risk getting a ticket. When we explained why we were leaving and would only be paying for our drinks we were told Oh but the tickets are done in order. No they are not! I've worked in hospitality and the fact alone that the tables weren't cleared (we weren't the only ones) is just not acceptable. But then having to argue with the staff that we had been waiting for over half an hour also not acceptable. The food looked and smelled awesome but sadly we never got to find out. There were approx 4 waiting staff on so I really don't understand how this happened. Raise your game!

Bright, very clean, airy, dog friendly café in Richmond's market square. Large plate glass windows so you can watch the folk pass by. Has some outdoor seating on the pavement to the front. Absolutely delightful, charming service from a lady who was all smiles and very welcoming. Really makes you sit up, notice and remember a place when it's friendly, smiling and genial service. I had a fresh apple juice, which didn't last long, it being a hot day. The ice cream banana milkshake was lovely and just the ticket. I ordered the mushroom and Cheddar omelette with homemade chunky chips and side salad. Really tasty omelette, very good food. Initially I was slightly disappointed at there only being 7 chips on the plate, but honestly, it filled me up. The chips were really good. There is more seating upstairs too. I would recommend and revisit. Great service. Great food. Reasonable prices.

Visited Penleys Café mid-afternoon, avoiding the lunchtime rush. Very relaxed atmosphere, felt homely with friendly, helpful staff.Great selection of food, but being lunchtime" I went for a club sandwich and chips. Wow

Visiting Richmond went into Penleys. Staff friendly and welcoming, was very clean, qseated straight away. (there is seating upstairs.)Had the quiche and salad, the quiche was amazing, absolutely gorgeous, had a lovely crispy top WOW.!! Looking around at other tables and all the food looked beaut to.Well worth the visit.

Lovely place to have lunch and watch the world go by. Laid back cafe with plenty of seating on both floors. Dog friendly! You order at the till and they bring you your food. Quick and friendly service and in a central location!

Went in for a couple of full English breakfasts and they were spot on. Took our little dog Ava in with us and she was made very welcome downstairs. We had a couple of americano coffees and extra toast, couple of extra sausages and extra mushrooms. Total cost around £22 and the ingredients were clearly all locally sourced and delicious. Staff courteous and friendly, would recommend.
