I have been a student of Barrie's for over 10 years now, I could not recommend him more. His expert knowledge and skill on the drum kit has helped me achieve the distinctions I've always aspired towards at graded examination, along with gaining techniques in almost every style of music that have enhanced my own knowledge of the drums. Lessons are always entertaining with a friendly atmosphere and I see Barrie as much more of a friend than a teacher.

Having never played the drums before, I contacted Barrie to enquire about lessons. He was great on the call, very helpful and extremely knowledgable so I went ahead and booked my first lesson.I am now 5 lessons in with Barrie and I honestly could not recommend him more. He is a great teacher, extremely patient and explains things in a way that you just remember them. I've been trying to learn the drums from YouTube for 12 months, so much content but I was making slow progress because I had no structure to my learning. So I gave barrie a call. Booked my first lesson. I'm now 3 lessons in and everything makes sense. He keeps things simple and sets me a new challenge every week. Barrie is a great guy and has passion for drums and teaching. I went for drum lessons with Barrie when i was about 12 (1994) and did several grades and kept up with my lessons until i was around 22-23 only stopping due to work and family priorities. I've got to say Barrie teaches drums in a very unique way he really is one of a kind, teaches in a fun but relaxed environment. Although i haven't been for a lesson in over 10 years i still speak to Barrie on a regular basis at least 5 times a year, Barrie is a true friend and its good to catch up. I have been attending Barrie Owen's Drum lessons for around 10 years now in that time i have not only received knowledge on technical drumming (and music in general), skills such as reading music and also a good friend in Barrie.If you truly wish to learn the drums in all their technical detail with such things as dynamic contrasts and a multitude of styles and techniques go to Barrie. not only will you have a blast but gain knowledge most drummers won't even think of and a good friend with lots of interesting stories.

I have been having lessons with Barrie for a few years now and he is a great teacher. His method is really easy to grasp and he'll have you playing in no time. He has experience in virtually all aspects of drumming and will teach you whatever you are interested. He has helped me to get distinction in grades as well as teaching me songs. Having known Barrie since the age of around six/seven, Barrie has become a very close friend of mine. He is an excellent drum teacher who does not only provide knowledge of how to play the drums but also the knowledge of how to read and write drum music itself. I could not recommend Barrie enough to any new bidding drummers who want to learn in a relaxed environment where the only requirement is that you enjoy yourself whilst you are there.
