The Harper
A jolly relaxing place with county walks and seaside close at hand.We received a warm welcome and shown around the hotel and its facilities.Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. There was plenty of space to relax in, and the food was delicious. My only concern would be if they were to expand too far and lose that space and intimacy.A great place currently.

Everything about this hotel is perfection. From the fabulous reception team to the amazing food. The decor is beautiful with a relaxed but sophisticated edge. Breakfast is delicious, possibly one of the best I have had on an overnight trip . If you are a fan of Soho House or the Pig you will love this hotel. Will definitely return in the Summer to take advantage of the beautiful courtyard area. Spa super clean and you have it booked to yourself. The staff went that extra mile providing a real personal 5 star touch. Lovely little town called Holt and beautiful walks close by. You won't be disappointed.

One of the best hotels I have ever been to anywhere in the world. Truly wonderful service, great welcome, excellent food and drink, comfortable surroundings. Beautiful comfortable room (which we were upgraded to for free) and absolutely loved being able to book pool/sauna for 30 minutes for private use. Every single thing about this place we loved and cannot wait to come back! Cannot recommend highly enough.

This is a luxuriously appointed hotel, especially in the public areas, with gorgeous stained glass - clearly a lot of thought and money has gone into the decor. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and the complimentary mini bar was a bonus. Other than there being no-one on hand to check us in and no means of alerting anyone other than going to the bar, this side of the hotel seems very well run. The location is lovely and peaceful. It does not feel like a housing estate as some have perceived but rather a tasteful in-keeping enclave hidden within the village. The best part is how easy it is to get to Blakeney and the area generally. Very unspoilt feel to this part of the country. The place, however, is let down a little by the food and restaurant service, hence my rating. The staff are very friendly but the feel is that the chef (our night, anyway) is struggling - the charred leek starter was barely edible and my duck was cold and overdone. Crab tartlet was good. The young restaurant staff probably just need some more experience but also, you feel, a little more training on awareness. Lengthy unexplained delay in cooked breakfast arriving and mixed toast did not include promised sourdough as it had the previous morning. Obviously finished-with items (eg empty glasses and toast basket) should be quietly removed from the table as soon as possible and permission is not needed, although perhaps a query as to whether you would like a top-up would work well. The small breakfast yoghurt pots clearly require a small spoon, not the whopper on the table. Tiny details, perhaps, but this place is aiming high.

We stayed at The Harper for two nights and had a fantastic time. The rooms are lovely, the lounge areas are relaxing and beautifully decorated, the food at Stanley’s was decadent and delicious, and the pool/spa was luxurious and spotlessly clean. The vibe is relaxed, quiet and serene and the staff were polite and attentive. We loved our stay and hope to return!

Lovely stay here. Restaurant was the highlight. Dinner was exceptional. Small portions that were extremely tasty meant I left satisfied but no too full and looking forward to breakfast. Breakfast was also very good. For both, Service was decent without being exceptional. Room and facilities were good and all in good condition. The spa facilities are good but the half hour time slot goes very quickly and the clock watching inevitably detracts from the relaxation. Will def return.

Disappointing! My wife and I stayed at The Harper last week for the first time. Normally we would stay at one of the coastal hotels however we were lured by the claims of luxury and dog friendliness (we have an old dog).Initial impressions weren’t great - the hotel is effectively located in the middle of a car park and housing estate and there is not one patch of grass to walk your dog. The inside of the hotel is however quite nice - our room (which was one of the more expensive) was very well appointed, only spoiled by the cheap toiletries. Having to book the “spa” is a pain however this mini spa is very nice - clean and with all the main spa facilities. The outside seating area is disappointing with many of the seats having seen better days. Service was equally disappointing with staff (who btw were extremely pleasant) being few on the ground. We ate in the restaurant and again, not that great. Service average and lots of details just missed- we had no cutlery when our food was served despite asking. The food was reasonable but not special. So all in all I would say that the hotel aspires to be better than it actually is. It is not a bad place to stay, just not great.
