Public Art - The Clicker
This sculpture is by John Atkins - who also made The Clothier" sculpture which is on New Walk as well (just a short distance away from here on the other side of the bridge over Waterloo Way).It was also commissioned by "The Friends of New Walk". It was unveiled in May 2007.It is meant to commemorate the boot and shoe making industry that was once a major employer in Leicester but has now virtually vanished. John Atkins was inspired by the patterns used by shoemakers and bookmakers to form their finished product in his design of the sculpture.The Clicker is so named as it comes from the name of the worker who
