I took over the whole house as I had my sisters and brothers up for the night. I took them out for an evening meal. But I was invited back to share breakfast with my family. As we took.over the whole house, I can honestly say each room was nicer than the one before. The family said they had a beautiful night's sleep and that the rooms were very clean, cosy and comfortable. The next morning I arrived in time for breakfast. To say this beautifully presented home cooked meal was beyond compare is not really doing it justice. We all, including the wheat free" guest enjoyed our fantastic breakfast. Our hosts were charming.I can't think of anything negative to say. Just praise for our Hosts

Laurel Villa is always a joy to go into.I had coffee and one of Geraldines delicious almond and blueberry scones. The Villa has been busy all week hosting golf fans who are attending the Open.Laural Villa has a homely, warm, friendly atmosphere, making you feel very much comfortable and at home but also feel very special and cared for.

What a lovely find! I would highly recommend Laurel Villa for a stay with a difference. The house is dedicated to all things literary with particular deference to Seamus Heaney. Eugene is an absolute authority on the poet and a great raconteur. The Villa is like spending time in a very tasteful antique shop such were the array of beautiful furniture and ornaments. All kept spotless! Our room was comfortable and cosy with a lovely bathroom.Geraldine provided us with a lovely cooked breakfast and the nicest scones I have ever eaten. The dusting of icing sugar was a great touch!Geraldine and Eugene are a lovely couple and my husband and I enjoyed our stay with them enormously.

I ordered an afternoon tea to be delivered to my parents to help my mum celebrate her birthday during Covid lockdown. My parents were absolutely delighted and said it was an absolutely delicious afternoon tea! It was delivered, perfectly on time, beautifully presented in a box. There were more than enough goodies to satisfy them, with some left over for later! Mum says she would highly recommend to anyone and it has made her birthday a bit special in these strange times. Many thanks indeed to Geraldine at Laurel Villa. Denise

A most wonderful place to stay, a real jewel in the Londonderry countryside. A boutique Victorian Villa furnished with antiques, super comfy beds and modern bathrooms. Absolutely delightful breakfast room - awesome Irish Fry breakfast, family research study room and a secret secluded flowery patio. We had a very warm welcome from our hosts and wish we could have spent more time with them- Eugene in particular is profoundly knowledgeable regarding local history........go see for yourself.

The afternoon tea box, which my sister received on her birthday and shared with me, was one of the most delicious and ample meals imaginable. We are vegetarian, so we are accustomed to finding menus in restaurants, etc. extremely limited in variety and flavour, but Gerardine can make an egg and onion sandwich gourmet. That box was crammed with flavours, both savoury and sweet, and textures to match. Phenomenal! Everyone should experience the afternoon tea box at least once.Loved it.

3 South Australian Cousins visiting Magherafelt, the birthplace of our Grandfather. Laurel Villa is full of character, beautifully decorated, cosy, with a very warm welcome from Eugene and Gerardine who make you feel part of the family. Breakfast is excellent with options for all tastes. Gerardine's scones are first class, an opinion confirmed by locals who asked where we were staying. Eugene was extremely helpful re family history, putting us in touch with descendants of 2 of our grandfather's sisters, making available a room to meet with them. Through research Eugene found the possible location of a Great Great Grandfather's property and was more than happy to drive us to the area and show local sites. Laurel Villa was a highlight of our travels.

Myself & my family stayed here at laurel villa for a night, it was a great experience to learn about seamus heaney & the history of the villa. Gereldine & Eugene were very welcoming to us all & the breakfast was 10/10 served with freshly made scones & bread. We will 100% be back again in the very near future as one night was just not enough.

Great spot for afternoon tea, gorgeous room decorated with Seamus Heaney memorabilia. Fresh scones, buns/cakes/traybakes, sandwiches and nice coffee/tea. The woman running it is very nice and welcoming. She gave us boxes to take our leftovers home. Thanks!
