Good hotel, The Kathleen hall bedroom, huge! Bedroom 20 bathroom tiny, but managed for one night, any longer would have been a problem. Good food, good private parking very helpful staff. Nice view from bedroom.

Grand old place right on the square. Lovely staff but surprisingly expensive. Food slightly dearer than others nearby but drink was 3 times the price of everywhere else. If you are just thirsty I suggest looking elsewhere. Shame because it's a nice place

Came in on bank holiday Sunday, the place wasn't particularly busy, however most of tables were covered with dirt and used glasses and food from customers before. Tried to scan the bar and restaurant for staff to be seated or to get menus, however there was only one gentleman serving on the bar throughout the entire place. Picked up some menus and decided what we wanted to eat (expensive, costing on between £15-£20 for a main meal) placed our order with the barman for him to hand us our cutlery there and then at the bar and make our own way to our dirty table. The poor guy was rushed off his feet with another 6 customers to serve after us. We waited around 45 minutes for our food to come out before asking where our food was. The only gentleman working apologised and assured us the food would be out shortly. Just short of an hour and our food arrived, again been served by the same bar man. Both dishes of food were 1/10 in taste and quite frankly laughable in presentation and portion size. Almost £40 for 2 main courses and 2 lime cordials and soda. I understand places are struggling to staff right now, however if you only have one member of staff to run a hotel check in desk, bar, front of house and waiting tables I feel you need to revisit the services you are offering as it's unfair on both staff and customers in this situation. It's also worth noting this is a cashless business, most likely to save on costs of hiring an adequate amount of staff members to count cash and cash up at the end of the night. All round experience was terrible, I do not recommend.

Stopped in for lunch at this lovely town centre hotel. We enjoyed a delicious meal, some cracking real ale and very friendly service. Definitely worth a visit.

We didnt stay but had the best dinning experience. We are from New Zealand wanting to experience a Sunday Roast. He chose Beef and I chose Pork and boy it was the best Roast and meal i have had in the UK. We followed up with sticky toffee pudding and a cheesecake. All swallowed down with a great NZ sav blanc. What a great meal! What great service!! Will be back when we are in the UK again.

Waited at the bar for 5 minutes whilst 3 bar staff made cocktails from recipes. Not one of them acknowledged me. Then one member of staff said sorry he will be with me in 2 minutes, 5 minutes later I walked out. Terrible service. Absolute joke of a place. 10 minutes in there and I couldn't get served.

What a charming place! The hotel is historic but comfortable. Lovely bar and reception rooms and the restaurant was great. We had dinner and breakfast there. Dinner was ok but breakfast was fantastic. Our room was comfortable and welcoming. Sadly the mattress on the bed was saggy and made for a rough night. Be aware you may have to climb several flights of stairs.

Popped in for a bite to eat following the gliding experience. The restaurant was busy and we were seated quickly. A pretty eclectic menu with a good variety of choices. The service was swift, attentive but not overwhelming. The food was terrific. The lunch time roast meat sandwich is fabulous. An extra plate is provided should you wish to dissect the roast. All in all a superb lunch at a very reasonable price . Whilst in the restaurant my wife heard the distinctive tones of and then spotted the Yorkshire Vet.
