Dobbies Garden Centre Shrewsbury

I met a friend for coffee on Saturday not long after the breakfast with Santa event had finished. We were directed to sit around the corner in the part overlooking the shop floor. Within minutes of sitting down, the staff began returning tables and chairs to this area. They slid each table and chair back to where they had come from making such a noise that we couldn’t hear each other speak. When we finally pointed out that we were trying to have a conversation, we were treated with utter contempt. So rude.

This is a difficult review to write and star. The meal of jacket potato and salad was nice, the salad was fresh and crispy, but they were a little mean with the tuna filling.The price of the potted Christmas trees was eye-wateringly expensive compared to other high-end garden centres we visited. The quality was good, but so were the others.A BIG plus point is that all the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful.The reason for only rating 3 stars was the lack of Christmas atmosphere. It seemed as though they couldn't summon up any enthusiasm for Christmas. The choice of decorations was poor with a lack of anythingthing slightly different.Their range of garden items was good, as were the kitchen wear items and giftwear.We came away feeling disappointed and uninspired to return.

Very poor restaurant, will not be coming back. Very few items advertised were available and items that were arrived with parts missing as they had sold out. This was not mentioned whilst ordering.Children's sandwiches were only one slice of bread cut in half! Also very under staffed with some customers cleaning their own table before sitting down

Had a really lovely afternoon tea here. Family friendly and very reasonably priced, with kids versions available too. The staff were very helpful and the balance of savoury/ sweet food was spot on. The softplay is now open again so we were able to tie in a play for the kids.

Had a delightful afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon. Glad we booked in advance as it was busy.Fast, friendly service and plenty of delicious food. Nice selection of well filled finger sandwiches, scones, and lots of lovely little cakes. Something for everyone.Our booking was for 6 adults.We will definitely be back!

Popped in for lunch - really lovely salmon pie. Got a free cake as we are 60+, totally unexpected.Staff were very helpful.Topped off the visit with the purchase of a jacket, reduced from £70 to £21!

Enjoyed the outdoor displays and staff were helpful. Wanted to browse round the indoor displays but loud screechy music possibly suitable for a bad disco, sent us flying to the exit. What a disappointment. Car park needs much better signage for the exit too.

Delightful, bright and spacious garden centre with a large soft play and dining area. My daughter loved the soft play and we enjoyed the food. I would definitely come back again.Only 4 stars as there was no menu's so I had to take photos of them on the counters and hopefully it will save you some time as well.

Often stop off for a cup of tea and a mooch. Sometimes we have a cake and they're usually disappointing. The pastry on the strawberry tart I had was brick hard and the jelly on the strawberries very sweet. They have a nice range of this gs to buy but they are on the expensive side. Sales are good though. What let's this place down is the female toilets. They are very run down. Lock down would have been the ideal opportunity to upgrade them. The hand dryers are weak. Cubicles are frequently out of order. They are often messy with toilet paper on the floor. There is a toilet checked rota on the back of the door and they are supposedly checked frequently. For what I dont know, possibly collapsed old ladies.

Great selection for the garden but a ton of other stuff too! Almost perfect but I do think some of the prices are a little over the market price. But given the quality and the choice and the sheer breadth of what is sold there it definitely makes the trip worthwhile.
