Elgol Village Hall
Elgol is a very small remote village in south Isle of Skye, fantastic views and great fresh air from the sea.. many different types of water facilities and boat trips.. Only problem is the 13 mile single track road during the tourist season. As tourist often ignore the road law of Scotland, that they should use passing places to allow traffic behind to pass.. this causes congestion, delays and bad tempers..

Beautiful part of Skye on the west coast. A wee bit of a trek from Broadford through Torrin and Strathaird but we'll worth it.Down at the harbour, you look across Loch Scavaig to the Cuillin Hills or west out to Rum and Eigg. There are boat trips across Loch Scavaig and onto Loch Coruisk.Great evening views though of course, conditions are different over the winter months..

We visited in November as part of our honeymoon. We loved the rugged landscape and remote location. We spent our few days there exploring the little area and enjoying fresh seafood and scotch in front of the fire of our little croft house. We saw lots of sheep, goats, and elk. We were even lucky enough to spy the glow of northern lights.

What a nice place! In the little shop you can get a nice cup of coffe with cake. Great to see how these fine ladies are able to provide such service in such a tiny space. The views along the coastline are breathtaking. Wonderful cliffs and fish harbour in this remote fishing village.

Been to elgol three times . One of the times was my 40th birthday . Each time i visited loch coruisk . A trip over to the black cuillins from elgol (misty isle boat trips take you for a small fee) is a must . Loch coruisk is a fresh water loch that sits in the magma chamber remains of a 55m year old volcano . At the shore in elgol the sea has peeled the lava back and exposed some jurassic sandstone . The aerated looking sandstone is amazinv to gaze at . Read somewhere that fossils can be found here. A cave Bonnie prince charlie hid in is local to here . The drive out to elgol is stunning.Yup elgol is my favourite place on skye !

Stunning rugged landscapes. Would recommend the coastal walk if you have a spare day in Skye.

The drive from Broadford to Elgol is fabulous. It's a long and twisty single-track road, particularly so as you near Elgol itself, but the constantly changing views of the Cuillin are to die for. There's a very nice cafe at Torrin to stop-off for a coffee, and take in the views. If you're like me you'll be stopping to take lots of photos on the way. The journey is as good as the destination. The road into Elgol village itself is quite steep... it made me laugh because there was a moment I couldn't see anything over the bonnet as I turned the corner and the road dropped away. Not at all scary; it just adds to the unforgettable-ness of visiting Elgol. The community centre has a lovely cafe - try the cheese scones! The view of the Cuillin from the harbour is breathtaking, and one of the best on the island.... even better the boat trip to Loch Coruisk.
