Shane Smith from KLE builders broke the contract several times. He never showed up on time, never finished the work. I paid 2/3 of the quote up front for materials and labour, which never got delivered. He sent unskilled workers to our site, they did more damage than building work, which at the end needed to be taken down by us. We found human urine on site and he left dangerous tools in our garden, unsafe for our children to play outside. After many tries of negotiation, he never finished our extension. I took legal action. He ows me over £10 000 at the small claims court with a CCJ against him. This is my experience with this company.

I have done a job after kle had been there and I can assure you now I was disgusted the way he had left this family and the state of house . Very sad to see froma person who I fought was capable of much more

Shocking. AVOID at your own peril! Constantly late, excuse after excuse as to why he wasn't working (from theft of tools, punctures to his van, no fuel for his van, lack of sleep etc etc). The task was simple; install a 20 x 20 concrete base in the back garden. What I got, after 6 weeks of nagging him, with threats of breach of contract, was a cat litter tray for my effort. The base is now, after 5 months, falling apart, crumbling and of no use to anyone but the cat. You can literally dig a whole in it with your bare fingers. It will have to be removed and I will have to get a professional in to do the job properly. DO NOT USE THIS 'BUILDER'. It pains me that I had to award 1 star to get this posted. He doesn't deserve even that.

Avoid!!! KLE, Shane Smith, came to do a three side wrap around single story extension at our home in June 2022. The build was simple, and quoted by him and others to take 12 weeks. Shane was knowledgeable and clear about the job, communications initially excellent. After due dilligence of research and quote gathering,we paid 2/3 of the total cost as per contract early on - similar to all other quotes we had recieved with the pandemic and material price fluctuations being problematic for all. It became evident that Shane's work was dangerously substandard. Foundations were laid inadequately, some in the wrong place, some without structure or bridges for pipes, one critical soil pipe forgotten all together. Brick and block work were uneven, bowed, and in little time much fell down, and since had to be taken down for safety and rescue of the build. Damp cources not fitted or fitted incorrectly. Building control stated the work was incredibly poor standard and would not pass elements until rectified. He left rubbish on site, mostly from his home or other jobs, including brand new bike boxes, rubble and other things. He brought his young son with him on many occasions, often 'worked alone' though this entailed him walking around on his phone or sat on the floor as reported to us by our neighbours. Generally incredibly poor management of himself and others. Materials never materialised, workers had nothing to work with and often angry as were not paid. Stresses we should never have needed to experience. We tried on numerous occasions to rectify, support and maintain the build as per contract, but Shane compulsively lied about everything and never followed through on his own promises. He randomly would just go AWOL then we would suddenly hear from him stating dramatic reason which became so common it became impossible to believe his illnesses and accidents occurred.He has shown no remorse about what he has done and what he has taken fromus. Which is A LOT! We have had his work assessed by a Quantity Serveyor and legal team who both believe he owes us 80-100% of our money back. We are now amidst legal action and he will be pursued through main court, police, and trading standards. I doubt we will get our money back unless he truly is insured which I now doubt despite having seen documentation at the start. But if this review helps someone avoid this horrofic life changing experience then that's at least something.
