Open space not far out of the city of Newcastle. Site of former coal mine. Nice walks in open country, around a large pond and through woodland. Good size car park

Beautiful nature reserve with lots of paths and tracks. Unfortunately a popular place for use as a no consequence dog toilet. Not great for kids or small children due to level of faeces left for them to play with.

Went here and enjoyed walking round. Did not see any deer but maybe next time.

Lovely little walk, great for doggos, kids and adults.Simple, flat and many different walking options long short under cover of trees and the lake itself.Good for picnicsParking is not the best.

A good use of old mining area, nice woodland walks with ponds. The main car park is very poorly surfaced, so drive in carefully. Be aware that later in the evening it's a gay cruising site.

Reviewed previously, nothing has changed since last review. Its a shame some people decide to empty / clear cars out and leave their rubbish in the car park, where there's a bin!!Poor show of wildlife today, due to building work nearby, and I doubt the larger mammals will be back now. But if small birds, a handful of ducks, a heron are your thing, head down there to see the heather in bloom and a few butterflies when the rain has stopped.Still over grown in places, and muddy, but go with your wellies for British Summertime".Sadly its not the place it used to be......"

Didn't realise so close to airport - overwhelming smell of diesel fumes and the noise from jet engines so loud it scared the dog. Path runs alongside the busy Coach Lane and the reward was a mucky bit of swamp at the far end of my trek. Won't be returning.

Absolutely love this place, so much nature, red squirrels, deer, herons just to name a few.The dogs love a walk up here and I love a run, it's so peaceful.Plenty open space and wooded area with a couple of lakes, no two walks are the same.

This is within walking distance of my home so no need to drive and I can improve my exercise regime. Sadly the red squirrels are no longer in the reserve but you may see deer. At present there is a swan and ducks on the main pond. Due to all the rain of late, it is extremely muddy and wet. Wellies are definitely recommended.

A great place to walk the dog. Woodlands grasslands heath and ponds all in one walk.
