Did a great job, from initial quote which was very thorough, kept in touch until work started and during the work. Their work was of a very high standard and looks very good (compared to a previous company who rushed the pointing). Work undertaken including re-pointing internal and external stonework, rebuild of a chimney and stone repair work around windows.Would highly recommend them and will have no hesitation in using them again.

We first met John and the team after buying our terrace house in 2016 and finding one of the chimney breasts was extremely unsafe - Durham Stonemasonry & Restoration came out quickly and addressed the poor pointing, general state of disrepair and loose/floating bricks inside the flue. Though this was a small job for the team, we were impressed with their knowledge and skill leading us to use Durham Stonemasonry & Restoration again:In 2019, when we needed help in blocking up a bedroom chimney breast, John and the team neatly and safely tidied up the chimney breast prior to the plasters arriving.In 2020, John and Lewis expertly reconstructed our chimney stack. The stack was in an very poor state. Tracy was excellent at helping with the organisation of the 50ft+ scaffold required to carry out the job safely. The chimney was dismantled carefully and all of the original bricks and pots were re-used. IA fantastic job!

Durham Stonemasonry repaired / replaced several large pieces of stonework around the bay windows on the front of my house. The stones were cut precisely and their attention to detail was excellent. Service was friendly and I have booked them to do further restoration work.

Contacted this company for a quote to replace a crumbling stone window sill. Contact with the company was always excellent and informative. They very happily provided a quote breakdown when I asked. I was kept up to date regarding when the job could be done and a mutually convenient day was arranged. On the day of the job the men arrived at the time expected and were extremely pleasant and easy to talk to. The work was carried out to my complete satisfaction and the area was left tidy. With a listed house, you need to know that the team working on it has not only experience but cares for the quality of the work and is willing to pay attention to detail. A window cill and cracked quoins have so far been beautifully replaced and the team will be back to tackle the pointing in the summer. Couldn't be happier with the work. Highly recommend.

I booked Durham stonemasonry & restoration to repair a chimney breast which had been neglected over the years. John and Lou did a fantastic job and have given new life to the chimney breast. The craftsmanship on the new stone is fantastic. I would highly recommend Durham Stonemasonry
