Wat Mahathat
Although initially we met with locked gate in a fort wall, we were thoroughly welcomed in by the monks. A beautiful meditation room and shrine, where we were given some meditation instruction and encouraged to join in a short ceremony. Best times to go for more are Sundays 2 pm and monthly Saturdays (e.g. 17th Sept, 15th Oct 2022). Recommended to wear full clothing including socks for the shrine room, and you are welcome to take some (dry/tinned) food offerings for the community. The site is in its early stages of development, but there is already a grand golden standing Buddha statue and lots of lovely flowering plant tubs.
