Thai Bay Bar & Restaurant

Visited with friends & ordered from the early bird menu, available until 7pm I think. Service was good, attentive without being all over you. Mixture of food but the chicken satay was amazing as was the nutty chicken main.If you like thai food go here. We called in on spec for lunch and are we glad we did. We chose lunchtime special for £11.95 which inc a starter a main and a soft drink. The food didnt disappoint,

Went here 3l4 months ago and was awesome. Went now and was very poor. I'm not sure what had happened. Maybe just one off. Thai fishcakes were really.... As bad as you can think. Crying thee steak had me crying did not look smell or taste right. Noodles were a solid lump. Sorry but that's how it was.

Wont came back and wont recommend. Too expensive, place is run down, service is nice but waitress didn't know the menu and the ingredients.The menu on the board was different from the printed menu.The waitress could not tell why the prices were different for the same dishes on the board and printed menu, suggesting that it's maybe because the board was written long time ago. Which is ridiculous because the paper menu looked old too.I asked for some paper tissue and I was given some blue kitchen towel.Not sure why people are saying that this place is reasonably priced.. maybe only lunch deal for £11.On the full price menu the cheapest main is £14 which is way too much for what you get.£40 for 1 started, 2 mains, 1 drink. I wish we went else where.

Food absolutely delicious and staff very attentive.

My husband had been here earlier in the week and enjoyed it so much he brought me! I am so pleased he did. However as a vegetarian I was disappointed and lack of choice but a chat with the waitress changed that as most dishes can be adapted! Will be back

I had the lunch menu here on a Tuesday.It was fantastic, the best Thai food I have had for a long time. The service was great, very helpful and polite.The price of the lunch menu was good especially as it included a soft drink.Will definetly visit again when I next come to Sunderland. :-)

Haven’t booked in advance on a weekend night, able to fit us in, lovely staffs, food is alright and quick service.

My son and I had a meal there for my Birthday. The food was amazing and the service spot on!!!! We will definately be going back.....I would rate my whole experience 10/10 and would highly recommend visiting and enjoying the friendly service and fantastic food....

There was no social distancing in the restaurant. They were filling as many tables as possible and not leaving an empty table between. Made me feel quite anxious. We ordered a nutty chicken and dirt cow dish. I couldn't taste the nuts in the chicken and it was slightly dry. The steak in the dirty cow dish was tender but it was overly peppery and lacked any other flavour. Food wasn't anything startling. I've made better at home using a packet of blue dragon pad thai. Portions weren't great either. We got half price and if I'd paid full price I would have not been happy. Service was just ok but we were waiting quite a while for our food. Overall, I was quite disappointed. I read the reviews and they were very positive so I was expecting great things. I wouldn't recommend or visit here again.

Spent a few days at the tall ships race and stumbled upon this superb Thai restaurant, ended up eating there twice. So nice to see some different dishes on the menu and everything beautifully cooked and presented. Probably the best Thai restaurant we have ever been to.
