My Friday Art Group has an exhibition in the Museum. During our private view my friends came to see the art work on display but then enjoyed looking round the rest of the Museum. Although local they had never visited before. I see something new or find out new facts about Brightlingsea each time I visit. It's a little gem and Margaret and the Volunteers do a marvelous job.

We had a fantastic time at Brightlingsea Museum with the children. The people there are so lovely, kind and helpful. The museum itself is wonderful inside with a lot to learn about how they made ships back in the days. How the fishermans and their family lived and how their life was during the war .We completed a playful trail with a little rat called Brickelesey. We visited Brightlingsea for the first time but we will definitely come back again .

Visited the recently re-opened Brightlingsea museum today for the first time. Vast improvement on the old museum in the reading rooms. Loved the HMS Nemo HQ and the replica sailors berth. Lots of info to take in, some activities closed due to Covid 19. I didnt see any references to sail making.

Bright modern local museum obviously concentrating on local history. The displays mainly comprise information panels with supporting artefacts presented in an imaginative way. An extensive archive is available to view in a dedicated area and volunteers are on hand to assist. Worth a visit especially if you know little about the area.

I took my 87 year old Mother in Law to see the Blessing of The water yesterday and our highlight was also visiting the amazing Museum. It was so interesting and has a comprehensive display of historical nautical items and photos. My Mum in Law lived at the Yachtsman's Arms pub for about a year in around 1944 and went to the local school. Her uncle Fred Sawyer owner the pub and it was in the family since the 1800's. We found old black & white photos of her relatives and the museum staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Can strongly recommend visiting......lovely people and lovely old fishing town. We shall return soon from Hertfordshire for another wonderful day out.
