Parking is free on Sunday and Holidays ( check picture with prices and park on the bottom with sign for long stay ). Brilliant for spending family day out, especially with a lot of friendly animals around you there ( when you buy tickets, buy the food there too, so you can feed them). A lot of history and reconstruction so interesting and for everyone something there, including toy House museum next to the village and dinosaur Park ( kids just loved it). Maybe it looks that all those can't work together, but for kids, that is a brilliant idea to mix all together. At the end, you can have your family picking and relax, but you can buy food and drinks there too If you didn't brought your own. Recommended and enjoy your day!

Took us about 1 and a half hours to walk round and look at everything. Did not have anything from the cafe, but had a good choice. The toy muesem was good. The hauted mansion was very well put together. Well kept, interesting local history. A good fact sheet for children to fill in and help them learn by finding the information. A good afternoon out.

Nice place to visit with family and kids. Was really impressive to see how people used to live hundreds of years ago. Really enjoyed the fact that you could buy food from there and feed the goats that were running freely on the field

Wow, well where do I start!I had such a fantastic day here with my nephew. They have free roaming animals which you can hand feed, peacocks, deer, goats, ducks, chickens, all of which are very well looked after and well loved! Lots have been rescued, so it’s so nice to see them happy and loved!!The haunted house is a must if you like scary! They have a cute cafe onsite serving hot and cold food and drinks, from sandwiches, toasties, paninis, pizzas, burgers, cakes and more.Great range of gifts available too in the gift shop.I would highly recommend visiting, and it’s great as there is no need to book and affordable prices too.Cannot wait to return again here absolutely loved it!

A lovely day out. Lots to see and do. Nice staff. The only reason we gave 4 stars is because parking was confusing. It is signposted onto the left of the station car park, however the payment machines were out of order and also don’t accept card. Therefore keep change with you. Also, it seemed to be cheaper to park in the station car park. Even so, parking for the day will be less than £5. Well worth a visit. You can also buy animal food to feed the free-roaming rescue goats and deer as you go round. They are very tame.

Great place to spend a few hours, especially with children. It is very charming and a bit eccentric. The animals are delightful and the castle itself is interesting. The displays are well done and there is lots of interactive material to keep children entertained. The toy museum and haunted house at the back of the castle and they're a little odd within the setting, but worth visiting if you're there. Although my 7 year old was terrified in the haunted house! But the castle is by far the best bit of the site. There is plenty of historical information to interest the adults and it is very well reconstructed. It wasn't busy when we visited on a Monday in August. Highly recommended.

Brilliant place to visit for adults and children alike. They have successfully recreated a Norman settlement full of information, items to pick up and wear, live stock to feed with lots of easy to read facts. Also has a great treasure hunt for the children were they have to find stamps to win a medal.Reasonably priced coffee shop available where you can buy food and drink with plenty of places to sit both inside and out.Great gift shop with lots of interesting things to buy for children and adilults alike from a simple souvenir to a reproduction metal Norman helmet.Wheel chair access is possible with help from a third party and although possible could be difficult as its all up hill.

A very nice family day out in a unique place. Plenty of things to learn and discover for all ages, worthy of 4 stars. However, I do think that a refurbishment is in order throughout, as the buildings and mannequins are showing their age. They could also do with a few staff or volunteers for visitors to talk to instead of just reading information off the plaques. The dinosaurs don't really belong there (sorry) perhaps replace with more live animals or casts of animals extinct from Britain? The toy museum is fascinating, but a decaying ruin (amazing exhibits but too much crammed together, gathering dust without conservation).

Oh my word, the kids LOVED this place! We were lucky to come on a sunny day, not too busy inside and plenty of great photo opportunities including a peacock in flight! We enjoyed the interactive and informative displays and feeding the animals. Superb! The dinosaur and toy museum are a bit random but add even more intrigue and adventure.

Absolutely amazing! Great for the history lovers, there's so much to see and learn and do. Most things are interactive, there are animals wandering around and you're allowed to feed them if you buy food for them. Entry fee is so cheap for what you get I think! Absolutely worth it. The haunted house was very fun as well, I absolutely hate scare things but I found it more fun than anything! The toy museum was wonderful and there was so much on display, you can put some pennies or pounds in and play an old arcade game or two if you want. There were dinosaur statues as well! Lots of speakers playing the sounds you would expect to hear in an actual medieval village (and near the dinosaurs too) and lots of audio and visual information that tells you all about what you're looking at. The goats were SO CUTE and there's a few places where you can get a really good view over the whole village! It's big enough you could spend a day there but small enough that it doesn't feel exhausting walking around. Definitely recommend, and I am definitely visiting again!
