If I could leave a minus rating I would!!!!!! Absolutely the worst hire company ever. After booking a van and giving my details I went to collect the van to be told I can’t have one ( I’ve 9 points on my licence so I do get it) BUT should have told me before I caught three trains and a taxi to get to their depot.! They had no empathy at all and INFACT where actually rude about it other than the young lady on reception. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Not mention that three years ago I hired a minibus to go to Italy with and the brake pads went half way down!! AVOID THIS AWFUL COMPANY!

Rented a 12 Seater Minibus from them recently for a family vacation in Cornwall. All went well, would use again if I ever need another Minibus..

My vehicle played up on a Sunday afternoon. I rang up the number given and was helped immediately. Paul sent me sent me Jo the engineer and Jess the secretary, up till mid wales. They brought me a new vehicle and left home very late by train. They arrived back to their destination after 2:00 am the next day (!!!!!) This is service you would find NOWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD!!!! I am VERY grateful!!!!!!!!!!!

Very competitive rates for hire. I hired a minibus with no problems.

Do not use - say they aren’t charging your card but will do it anyway and hold funds for a month! Submitted the online form to hire a van, which states no payment will be taken until the booking is confirmed. Quickly received an email saying the van wasn’t available and booking was cancelled, no charge to the card and any preauthorisation has been released. This was not true as the money was taken from my account and two weeks later has still not been returned. On calling their offices I was told there’s nothing they can do and just to wait 28 days for funds to be released.Be clearer with your website and email comms that you are charging cards and making a booking on your website is likely to leave you out of pocket if they have no availability. Also don’t bother trying to call to book as they rarely answer the phone.Would not recommend, plenty of much better and more trustworthy companies in the area.

Used Allied for a removals trip to Spain. Outstanding in all respects, quality, customer service and especially price. The van was great and didn't miss a beat all the way there and back. The afternoon before the trip I noticed a flat tyre on the van, their brilliant engineer came to my house with a replacement wheel and new tyre within a couple of hours.I wouldn't hesitate to use again and to recommend to others

Used Allied twice this summer and both times had no issues. The 9 seater had quite a bit of wear and tear but served the purpose we needed it for.The 17 seater was in better condition but speed was limited to 66mph.Both times the pick up process was smooth. There was a slight wait as there was only person doing all the paperwork for all the customers.Overall would recommend and and will use them again in the near future.

Brakes failed - narrowly avoided an accident. Luckily at 30mph and not on the motorway!My father in law hired a car for us on 18 July from the Brentwood branch.The next day I drove the car to Norfolk. I could hear a grating noise and it got very loud when braking. I could feel the vibration on the brake pedal.I called Allied on the 20th and advised them of the noise. As I was in Norfolk for a week on holiday, I was told that a mechanic would call and come by. No one called.I called Allied again on the 27th morning. I was told that the manager would call me back. No one called.On the 29th I drove to Lincolnshire. Still no one called.On 4 August, I was driving in Marlborough. I was braking for a pedestrian crossing in a 30mph zone. The car didn’t slow down. I did an emergency stop with the brake and saw (and felt) something fly out of the tyre. The car did not stop. It went past the pedestrian crossing. I had to pull the handbrake to stop the car.The pedestrians were scared. My wife was screaming and my children were crying.I was braking on amber. If I had arrived later and braked on a red light people would have been crossing the road. I would have hit them.I had been driving on motorways and country roads for days. The brakes could have failed then. My family and I could have been involved in a major accident.I drove to a safe place using the handbrake and called the AA.The AA repairman was shocked when he saw the brake pads and discs. His exact words were “who the hell serviced this car!”.He had to drive and get replacement parts. He came back and took of the brake pads. It was down to the metal. He had to hammer of the discs as they had eroded and were stuck. The disc was heavily grooved due to metal on metal contact I.e. pad had been worn down for awhile.The brake fluid container appeared empty. He had to push the fluid all the way back. This was a sign that the fluid had not been topped up. Also a proper service would have picked up the empty brake fluid container and replaced the pads and discs accordingly. The repair took 3 hours in total. Time I could have been on holiday with my family instead of waiting for a repair and counting my lucky stars that no one got hurt.Just after calling the AA I called Allied - no answer. I wrote an email detailing what happened. No response or a call to date.The car was not road worthy. The service has been non existent. I had to give one star in order to write this review. If I could, I would have given negative stars.I hope this is a one off incident for them. It could have been a deadly incident for my family and I.
