We have found Lewis very approachable and always there on the end of an email/phone when needed .Some of Lewis designs / ideas which we weren’t going to go with , we are so glad we followed his lead definitely has an eye for design. Would definitely use again on another project.

We have worked with Lewis Critchley Architects many times and always found Lewis to be professional and proactive.Always a pleasure to work with Lewis recently gaining planning permission for us on a sensitive site in a conservation area providing valuable feed back at each stage of the process.We were particularly impressed with how the end result worked to limit the impact on the environment in such a way that did not compromise the design.We look forward to continuing our working relationship together going forward.

Highly recommended. Was very good from start to finish. Designs looked good and were cost effective. Customer service and attention to detail excellent. Lewis has a practical hands on background which is reflected in his overall approach - no Grand Designs white elephants!

I can highly recommend Lewis. I went out to interview 4 architects before settling on Lewis. I liked his style, he seemed to have a good balance of design vs engineering compared with the other architects we looked at. He's a no nonsense sort of chap which I liked. I sensed he was someone who could see the project through to completion. I liked his preference to use building contracts. He is a very cautious architect, and made us highly aware of potential issues and about avoiding situations with dodgy builders etc..He Introduced us to some materials that we probably wouldn't of considered in the first instance which have greatly improved the design, such as the standing seam roofing. I changed my mind a number of times and he was very quick to make the modifications. I had a lot input for the internal configuration which Lewis patiently worked with me on which I appreciated; but also, he wasn't afraid to push back on points for things that didn't make sense, and offered good explanations. It was a bit of back and forth which is to be expected.One of his strengths that we didn't anticipate is keeping the cadence of the project going. He's very good at keeping the project focused and moving and applying pressure on all involved at each stage. Where things are being held up he's emailing builders, structural engineer, planning etc.. prodding them to get on. We're currently in the thick of it so we appreciate someone like Lewis helping drive the project. That is partially why we continued with him after the design stage to audit the RIBA building contract. In addition to keeping his oversight on the project, and the quality of the build, to have Lewis continued input is proving really valuable.If you go with him as you'll see he's super fast with everything. To quote our builder.. The director said he's the best architect he's worked with. The builders really appreciate the fast turn around when they have questions.We're very happy with Lewis's work so far. he outlined the cost of the architectural fees in advanced and these have been stuck to. The project has gone over budget but that's been partially my doing wanting more than the original remit and market forces.We are really appreciative of all your efforts, advice, support and perseverance during a complicated project, amidst difficult times (Covid) and helping to resolve issues.A year after completion we are living in a loverly house.Thanks again
