Sussex Heritage Damp Restoration (SHDR)

Following signs of water coming up through our concrete floor, we contacted Aaron for advice. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and soon identified the source of the problem. He then advised how best to dry out the area and met with our loss adjuster and had to educate them on the best way of ensuring the restoration was fit for the long term. Aaron was a pleasure to work with.

Sussex Heritage Damp Restoration completed a survey of our property and produced a comprehensive report on the issues that were causing our damp. With simple and clear instructions I was able to address our damp issues without the need of a contractor and our property is already on the mend. The team clearly have a lot of experience in dealing with properties of our age (c.1890) which really helped in getting straight to route of the problems with no false starts. 10/10 or 5 stars. After suffering damp problems in my house for over 20 years with several builders saying there was nothing that could be done, I was recommended to Aaron whose work on my house has completely eliminated the damp issues including transforming my cellar from a damp and unpleasant space to a dry, bright room which I now use as an office. Aaron is very knowledgeable about damp problems and how to deal with them properly which in many cases does not require huge financial outlay. I was delighted with the work done and grateful not only for Aaron's expertise and the work he and his team did on my house but also the after 'sales' care where he has kept in touch to ensure everything is going ok.

Had an absolutely great experience with Aaron getting our basement flat sorted out. I have a chronic illness that the damp was really affecting and was worried it would take months of fixing. Aaron came in and reassured me it was fixable, communicated super openly about the processes, and knew instantly what to do to fix it. It was barely disruptive at all and took around a week overall, and now the flat is dry and the air is breathable! It's had a huge impact on my physical and mental health. Aaron WestWe first encountered Aaron approximately 6 or 7 years ago when we were selling an old cottage and the purchasers had requested a woodworm survey. Aaron duly arrived to do said survey and it was very quickly clear that he was a) personable, b) professional and c) extremely knowledgeable. After an careful inspection he explained that although there had been worm in the past this was no longer the case and the timber had retained its integrity. He also dealt with the “damp” in the inglenook which was simply salts in the old brick work which had been over painted.Sometime later we again called on his services as we were looking to purchase a grade 2 property with some damp issues and an unusable cellar. Aaron was only too happy to come out to inspect and advise us regarding the implications and possible solutions to the problems. Once again he quickly ascertained the cause of the damp issue and the solution. Once again his rapid assessment of the issues was first rate. We didn’t proceed with the purchase as there were listed building planning problems.We had further help from him regarding an infestation issue with which he dealt with in his usual efficient manner, quickly and with only a small cost to ourselves.In 2023 we were in the process of buying a 200 year old listed cottage which had a very wet cellar of no use. Once again Aaron happily arrived to advise us as to what would need to be done and the approximate costings. After spending some time in the cellar he emerged with the problem, the causes and the solution together with a ballpark figure. As a consequence we continued with the purchase as we have absolute faith in Aaron and knew that he would solve what was to us a major issue. Happy to say the work has been done very quickly and efficiently and the cellar is now a usable space not a damp smelly cavern in the house.Clearly we would not hesitate to recommend Aaron West as he has always done an excellent job solving issues with no fuss or drama. We came across Aaron when potential buyers of our previous house instructed him to carry out a full damp survey. An initial survey had found “damp” in multiple places - we were obviously worried this would cause the sale to fall through however Aaron put the buyers (and our) minds completely at ease and suggested pragmatic and practical ways to eliminate minor damp issues (most of which we could do ourselves).
