Eating here was an emotional experience. I have been dreaming about the food since we left. So annoyed we’ve lived in Newbury 2 years and only just discovered this place. In my view, the single greatest place for food in all of Newbury. Can’t wait to return soon!!

Had an amazing sushi platter at this restaurant. I am gluten intolerant and they had a specific gluten free platter on the menu, and they brought over gluten free soya sauce for me as well. I am always sceptical of gf soya sauce in a restaurant because some restaurants have got it wrong in the past, but I dared to try it at Sushizen and everything was fine (the sauce had a clear gluten free sticker on top so less likely that someone gets confused.) The sushi was of really good quality, such smooth buttery salmon. And the coconut ice cream mochi to finish was delicious too. Great service so all round 5 stars, thank you for a lovely experience.

Absolutely marvellous. Glad to have the delicious complimentary dessert and the sushi was incredible. As a Japanese culture lover, there is no doubt that this restaurant should be highly recommend to come.

There is one good reason Sushizen has such a high score here and that is because it’s a bloody fantastic restaurant! Service is perfect and Mr Mo is an amazingly personable guy who cares so much about his food! I was never a big sushi fan and always opted for Indian cuisine given the choice but I have to say this place has helped change that. I would have to say every dish that comes to the table is a piece of artwork and the taste is just incredible! I hope they survive in the location that seems a little quiet at times but with their attention to detail and super sushi skills, I think they will and they 100% deserve to. I did plan to take a pic of the chicken katsu curry but it looked so good, I completely forgot and started eating it!

Absolutely incredible experience here. A delicious complimentary bowl of miso soup to start our meal off with. Some of the best crispy chili squid I have ever eaten, and other lovely starters. And the sushi was incredible. So incredible the family didn't wait for me to take photos. I would highly recommend coming here.

What a gem.Mr Mo is a delight and a genius with his sushi!We had a fantastic meal, all the food was exceptional quality and beautifully presented.All the staff we excellent.All together a very enjoyable evening.We'll be back!We went back, still amazing.

One of the absolute best restaurants in Newbury. The food here is exceptional - from the tempura being some of the lightest, crispest batter we’ve ever tasted, to the sushi being absolutely perfectly and lovingly prepared.The place is clean, cozy and comfortable, and every member of staff was exceptionally friendly and gave us some of the most attentive service we’ve had at a restaurant in a long time.Not only this, but we took a quite fussy 6 year old who is known to be reluctant to try new things… and he was made to feel so at home and happy that he ate more than we’ve seen him do in a long time!We couldn’t recommend sushizen enough - and would be especially good for a nice, special evening for two.

Highly recommend this new restaurant in Newbury.We had gyoza, duck rolls, katsu curry, a platter of crispy sushi and more. Every single piece was stunning - fresh and full of flavour. The service and staff are amazing, we were warmly welcomed from the second we opened the door and the stunning service didn't stop. I already have my menu planned for when I return!

Best sushi I ever had.I tried beef ramen for first time. It was really delicious. Staff was really nice welcoming.
