We recently got married at Coombe Trenchard and cannot recommend it highly enough. From the very beginning Sarah and Kate were absolutely brilliant; so kind and understanding, guiding us through the process at every stage.The house is out of this world and the gardens are stunning with phenomenal views of Dartmoor and photo opportunities everywhere.We had the best weekend of our lives and everything ran so smoothly, all down to Sarah and the rest of the team working tirelessly throughout. We recently had our wedding at Coombe Trenchard and would recommend to anyone getting married at the drop of a hat.The owner, Sarah, is without doubt the main reason we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Coombe Trenchard. She is so welcoming, friendly and, despite my constant stream of questions, nothing ever phased her or was too much trouble. A few days before our wedding, I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed and stressed - Sarah was fantastic and put all my worries at ease, stating that she would sort everything out for me. This meant that I was able to enjoy the run-up, as well as the wedding itself, as much as everyone else.The house itself is absolutely beautiful, set in acres of gorgeous grounds and gardens, with views of Dartmoor beyond. We had struggled to agree on a venue before discovering Coombe Trenchard, but we both knew as soon as we stepped foot in the door that this was the place we wanted to be.We initially wanted to get married under the clock tower outside, but had to put our wet-weather plan into action and had our ceremony in the equally stunning main hall instead. Guests were provided with umbrellas for venturing outside for photos and blankets to take the chill off (the fires had also thoughtfully been lit, which definitely helped our elderly guests in particular).Our wedding breakfast and reception took place in the Coach House, which has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The Peacock bar is also a great addition to this venue and very much enjoyed by our guests in the evening.Our day went by in a fantastic blur - waking up the next morning in the peace and tranquillity of Coombe Trenchard was a welcome calm, made even better by the amazing breakfast cooked for us.We cannot thank Sarah & her team enough for making our day so personal, special and unforgettable.Ellie & Ade x

Our wedding in July this year was a fantastic day which could have only been achieved by Sarah and team. Long before our wedding day, we met multiple times face to face and over the phone with Sarah taking us through everything. She helped us navigate the world of organising weddings and we are very grateful for her support. From the family dinner the night before with wonderful hospitality and food, to the little touches, organisation and friendly help on the day to the day after, Sarah, her team, husband and the most gorgeous setting that is their home have created wonderful memories for us. It had our guests asking how we found this place, because it truly is a hidden gem. Thank you.

As soon as we saw Coombe Trenchard, we knew it was the place we wanted to get married. It's absolutely beautiful. The house is stunning and the grounds are breathtaking. It's Sarah and Philip's home and with that comes a warmth, care and intimacy which makes it more than just a wedding venue. Sarah's support from day 1 was invaluable. Sarah was always just an email or WhatsApp away, she helped us navigate the covid guidelines and ultimately ensured that we had a truly magical day. We were also lucky enough to use the new Peacock bar which is amazing. Sarah supplied wonderful bespoke cocktails which were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We honestly can't thank Sarah enough, Coombe Trenchard will forever have a place in our hearts and I'm grateful we got to start our journey as husband and wife at such a special place.

After getting married in April this year it all still feels like a dream, everything about our special day was just pure perfection from start to finish. Getting married at Coombe Trenchard was a complete fairy tale come true, having Sarah and Kate organise the wedding made everything run like a dream, nothing was ever too much trouble and took the stress out of it for us. Always on hand at the end of emails or on video calls to answer any questions or to help suggest how you want your day to pan out, they really have got a beautiful vision of how to make things so special on your day.The venue was out of this world and to give us a peace of their home for our day was a dream come true. The moment we arrived, sarah and Kate made us feel so at ease whist we got ready and the caterer that was recommended by them created the most incredible food that our guest are still talking about now, I think we will still have the mouth watering tastes for years to come, the cocktails that were made from the ingredients grown there were just incredible. Having use of so many different areas of the house was just perfect as each part has unique characters that needed to be shown off from the beautiful archways and incredible fire place that we got married infront of, and the beautiful morning room that we used for the cutting of our cake.The wonders just kept coming as we got to enjoy our reception drinks outside over looking incredible scenery of the country side whilst enjoying the most beautiful gardens with the most iddilic setting for romantic photos to be taken which were done by the incredibly talented photographer Venetia. And it didn’t stop there as this beautiful venue just kept on giving when we went through an arched door to a hidden gem on the other side of the house which led to the coach house where we had the most amazing evening and had the best time filled with puppet shows to entertain the children at our wedding and amazing saxophone music, and the most amazing hand made pizzas that were cooked in the outside pizza oven and the children got to enjoy the roasting of marshmallows over the fire pit as the sun went down. Written from the perspective of a couple who planned a wedding abroad from Texas:We knew that we wanted our wedding to take place in Western Europe & actively visited many venues with none compelling us to say, “wow, this is the one”. After several months, we came across Coombe Trenchard (CT) online & to say it caught our eye was an understatement. The images of the location & finally meeting with Sarah & Kate confirmed we had found our wedding venue.There were concerns about having booked a venue without even seeing it in person, but both Sarah & Kate took tremendous effort to ensure our peace of mind. A few bullets to highlight what resonated the most with us:• Time Difference: With there being about a 6 hour difference between us, the CT team were incredibly accommodating with virtual meeting times. They were also very responsive through email.• Vendors: They have worked closely with many local vendors & provided insight/guidance on who may be a good fit for our vision. They even communicated with some vendors on our behalf due to the difficulties regarding the time difference, as well.• Schedule: They helped create the schedule for the wedding day & provided suggestions on which of the many locations to use for the ceremony, reception, speeches, etc. , along with other miscellaneous ideas throughout the day• Wedding Day: Perfection. Truly everything we hoped for & that would not have been possible without Sarah or Kate. I was able to enjoy being a bride & never worried about where we needed to go or what we needed to do because they were there every single step of the way• Most importantly, they were some of the loveliest people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. We never felt pressured with a decision, always knew they would provide their unbiased opinion & were adaptable with our constantly changing mindsIf you choose CT to be the place to say I Do, it will be the loveliest way to start off your ever after. 6 months later & we still gush about how beautiful our day was, and that is all thanks to, Coombe Trenchard!

The stunning house and gardens were just the perfect backdrop to our special day. From the moment we first spoke, Sarah was an absolute delight and made planning the day a breeze even with some Covid adjustments. Sarah's suppliers were all exceptional and it was clear they had a fantastic working relationship as the day ran faultlessly. We were blown away by this sensational venue and lovely family. Just over a year ago Al & I visited Coombe Trenchard along with a few other venues trying to decide where to celebrate our big day. A couple of weeks ago we had our big day and it was truly perfect.From the first visit at Coombe Trenchard we knew that’s where we wanted to have our Wedding reception. It was the most beautiful and unique venue we had seen and Meeting Sarah confirmed our decision.From the start Sarah has been so helpful and really made all of our dreams possible.Sarah and Phil have the most beautiful venue and made all of our family feel so welcome throughout the day.The different parts to the venue left an element of surprise throughout the day for our guests which they loved. The House, Stunning Gardens, Italian Terrace for Marquee and Coach house for evening shenanigans. We also enjoyed home made pizzas after dark from their outdoor pizza oven, highly recommended!All of Sarah’s planning over the last year and execution on the day was seamless, we would not have wanted our Wedding anywhere else!Thank you so much to Sarah and her team, all of our guests said it was the best wedding they had been too. Everything ran so perfectly and looked so beautiful, and we had so many people comment on how warm, heartfelt and full of love the day was, which is exactly what we wanted.The whole Coombe Trenchard team were absolutely fantastic on the day and so helpful throughout the whole process, but Sarah and Kate in particular were a dream to work. Nothing was too much trouble and Sarah went way above and beyond to help us resolve an emergency issue the day before.We honestly couldn’t have chosen a better venue.

A perfect wedding at Coombe TrenchardMy beautiful wife and I were recently married at Coombe Trenchard. The combination of Sarah’s conscientious, thoughtful and heartfelt planning and the stunning location that is Coombe Trenchard made our special day utterly perfect from start to finish.We had a small ‘Petite and Beautiful’ mid week wedding with only nine guests. We visited Coombe Trenchard twice in the run up to the wedding once to take a look around before confirming (we knew it was ‘the one’ the moment we walked through the door!) and then with our parents to confirm details with Sarah. On this occasion Sarah made us all morning tea and delicious homemade cakes and biscuits, just one of those special touches that we were to experience throughout our time at Coombe Trenchard.Coombe Trenchard is by no means a typical ‘corporate’ wedding venue and the experience you will have with your wedding here is hugely unique and personal. From the historic pictures, antiques and trinkets and book collections adorning the house (which I could I have spent another whole day perusing!) to the smouldering fires, Coombe Trenchard and the atmosphere that Sarah creates is a perfect paradox of feeling homely, cosy and personal but yet grand in scale.The rooms and locations at Coombe Trenchard offer so much versatility for a wedding. We got married in the light and beautiful morning room then had our drinks reception on the terrace (we were lucky with the weather!) and in the grand entrance hallway. We then moved to the panelled billiard room for our wedding breakfast before moving over to the perfect Coach House for our evening reception.As part of the Petite and Beautiful package and through Sarah’s great organisation and recommendations we worked with some amazing contractors, the equally incredible Venetia Norrington as our photographer and Boo To A Goose for the cuisine (delicious savoury and sweet canapés during the drinks reception and an exquisite three course wedding breakfast). Sarah also keeps an extensive list of additional contractors from which we engaged the amazing Obligato String Quartet who provided an eclectic, extensive and handpicked repertoire for us during the ceremony and drinks reception.On the day itself I am going to use the word perfect again, nothing was too much trouble and Sarah calmly orchestrated proceedings which put my wife and I and our wedding party at absolute ease. A special thanks goes to Sarah’s husband Phillip who manned the stunning Peacock Bar for the evening reception (all Devon or Cornwall sourced beers, ciders and spirits which was impressive). The accommodation which was able to sleep all of us was beautiful and the breakfast the next morning was once again absolutely delicious.Like a child waking up on Christmas Day with that sense of melancholy that it is all over we were so sad to be leaving Coombe Trenchard the day after our wedding, but it was made slightly better by Sarah presenting us with a lovely pottery heart with our names and date of our wedding inscribed on it. Once again another of those lovely personal touches we experienced throughout.So to Sarah and the beautiful Coombe Trenchard we thank you for the most perfect day of our lives, which we had a feeling was going to be the case when we first met you both!
