We'd been toying for a long time with getting our big heavy sofa-bed (full double bed) re-upholstered, when one day we found ourselves walking past the (to us) new and beautifully presented Modarasi shop; a cushion fabric in the window caught our eye, so in we went, - and are so pleased that we did!Roya has been a pleasure to deal with; she went to a great deal of trouble to go through many possibilities of material, patterns and colours and tones, and gave us expert advice on matching these to the needs of our home; she even visited the house (we live locally) with samples to discuss and select.Once we'd made a decision, within 24 hours Roya got us a quote and a time estimate.I was a bit worried about how the really heavy sofa-bed could be got out of our small terrace house, but I needn't have been. Esi arrived with a helper, expertly dismantled and removed the heavy metal folding bed frames and spring mechanisms, and then carefully manoeuvred the sofa out to the waiting van. He did a really top class job of re-upholstery and re-cushioning (including skillful alignment of pattern with sofa contours and cushions); the sofa was back in the house, on time and on budget, within a few weeks; and looking beautiful!Thank you Roya and Esi!We were so pleased with all aspects of the service that we went straight ahead with a couple more jobs:first, an old late Victorian upholstered small low armchair which was very tired and frayed, and whose arms were coming adrift at the joints. With the help of Roya's expert eye and taste, we chose a beautiful fabric, and Esi again did a wonderful job of both the wood frame repair, and the upholstery. (Of course, we could have gone out and bought a new chair, but this chair has such beautiful proportions that we decided it was DEFINITELY worth every penny we spent to restore it).And finally, a 1990s sofa whose foam upholstery cushioning had disintegrated and whose covers had faded and frayed. The sofa is in a high-use open-plan kitchen/living room, so this time (again with the wonderful Roya's help of course) we went for a much more hard-wearing (and cheaper) fabric; a lot of work involved to strip and reupholster from scratch, but the basic timber structure is so good and strong compared to some that it was again worth renovating rather than repairing. Another excellent job by Esi.We cannot recommend Roya and her family business too highly

Roya and Scott are an incredible team, they helped me to select fabric and their wonderful colleagues Esi and Sami reupholstered two vintage sofas for me and made me bespoke roman blinds for my living room. The sofas look absolutely beautiful, they have a huge range of fabrics to choose from (including Ian Mankin) and Roya is very good at knowing what patterns will go together. She designed and made me some extra pillows as a thank you for using their service. I am so thrilled with my living room now, and I plan to replace all the curtains in my house with blinds from Modarasi. Thank you so much Roya, Scott, Esi and Sami!

She does this with care and kindness, making it such a joyful and exciting experience. Roya is a talented artist; we were surrounded by her amazing paintings hanging on her walls as we flicked through all the fabric samples. It’s worth a visit to the shop just to view these.Our chairs were soon collected from our home for their transformation to begin. Roya’s brother Esi is the talented man behind the scenes. The quality of his workmanship is stunning and you can see the care and thought that has gone into the whole process. When our chairs were returned to us, their transformation was truly remarkable. We were so delighted with them. A week later, I still can’t stop smiling when I look at them. Roya and Esi are such a pleasure to work with; we heartily recommend them for any reupholstery or interior design project.

A wonderful team who came to our house, designed two comfortable, ergonomically suitable and beautiful sofas and one chair - all covered in delightful fabric that Roya recommended. They made them and delivered them courteously and efficiently earlier than promised, and they look fabulous. The cost was reasonable, too, especially as they took away our cumbersome old furniture. We much recommend Modarasi to anyone.

We had a new blind and sofabed designed and made by Modarasi. We were very happy with the service we received from Roya; she has a fab eye for colour and the style that would suit our house. She was also clear that, for the sofabed, we could have the exact measurements, designs, softness etc for the sofa and that is what happened. It fits perfectly into a small room - and was made with great skill by Esi. The whole thing from beginning to end was carried out in a really professional manner and it all only took about 3 weeks - which was amazing! Esi worked really hard to complete within the agreed timeframe. Thank you both so much! Mary
