PIES GREAT BUT BACON ROLLS AND COFFEE NOT GOOD.I purchased one of their meat pies and it was excellent. Completely full of delicious meaty filling rather than only partially full like so many pies these days. And the service was good.I would have given a higher score but I thenpurchased a bacon roll and a coffee on a separate occasion. They were both awful. The bacon roll was moist and had a gooey consistency. The bacon itself was slimy. The whole thing was tasteless. The coffee was watery and also tasteless. And the service was not good. The person serving was in a very bad mood and was very grouchy.So it’s a real mixed bag. The pies are great. The bacon rolls and coffee are terrible.

How this place has 3 stars I'll never know. Its an institution and fantastic in every way. The sausage rolls, barmcakes and sourdough are all fantastic 10/10

I think this bakery lost the focus on bread and pastry quality, we bought some sweet stuff to pair with our coffee and doesn’t give the “wow” factor any more…. Hope it bounces back to where it used to be.

3rd time I’ve been in since I started working in the area in January and it’s the 3rd time I experienced a rude attitude and pushback from the lady in the back making sandwiches. I gather they prefer customers not to ask questions and have them in and out without it requiring any ounce of effort outside of their normal slow quite minimal pace. Girls in the front always friendly and usually overly nice in efforts to make up for the rude defiant attitude coming from the back. I won’t be back and I’m no longer recommending the place to visitors coming to our business.

If Carlsberg did bakeries! Simply the best, if you are in the area and want a real bakery, you will only get original taste and value here, not overpriced corporate bland.

I purchased 6 hot cross buns at Hills bakery in Hale thinking they would be better quality from a bakery but very disappointed as they seem to have skimped on the cinnamon & didn't have much flavour plus also not much fruit& for £7.50 (1.25 each) I think it was expensive for the quality. :( Waitrose luxury hot cross buns are much nicer in flavour & much more fruit plus they are a lot cheaper. Put me off buying from the bakery again.

Love this bakery. Travel all the way from Shrewsbury whenever possible to stock up on everything. Currently enjoying their bread and strudels. Cannot recommend it enough

Love their pies and cakes etc for me it lets itself down with their attitude they were not busy but the chap was very inpatient whilst I chose something for a patient in nursing home which I tried to explained
