Astrid's Petite Cuisine

Astrid's baking is a little bit of French heaven in Newport. We are so lucky to have some genuine French cuisine and patisserie here and the array of delights Astrid produces is incredible. 100% recommended, you will not be disappointed - just find her treats before they sell out as they never last long!

Everything I have sampled from Astrid is absolutely outstanding. She is a pastry genius and eating her creations will make your life better. If I had to pick a favourite it would be her pain au chocolat. Most of my pictures are things that are half eaten as I am so excited and forget to take a picture!

In my humble opinion Astrid does THE best viennoiserie, patisserie and bread outside of France, and even better than some you can get in France. I’m an Astrid addict actually, if I could pay to keep her permanently making me her yummy pastries then I would. Alas, I can’t so have to make do with visiting her pop ups where I get to eat her yummy Nutella cruffins, chocolate and pecan croissants, chocolate and hazelnut pain au chocolat, almond croissants. The list could go on as I’ve tried all of her pastries and not one of them has ever been bad. They’re pure bliss to eat and they make me very happy indeed. They also make my son happy too and watching the enjoyment on his face as he’s eating them makes up for having to share them. Also a special mention for her baguettes, just eating it with some butter on or even better with some good French cheese is the best way to spend an afternoon. I highly recommend Astrid's Petite Cuisine and if you ever get the chance to try her products you won’t regret it.

Best french baker in Wales. Outstanding baguettes, loved the Nutella cruffin and sublime brioches. We even have then dairy free, out of this world! Very professional and reliable. All she bakes is always delicious!!

Astrid has by far some of the best pastries I’ve eaten. When she started her baking classes I had to sign myself up for the challenge. Her croissant course was excellent, so detailed and informative. No sooner had I completed that and I was doing the tarts and then the Choux! All equally amazing. So much so that my husband then signed on to the bread course!! What can I say other than we love Astrids Petite Cuisine.

Absolutely fabulous french tart making masterclass with Astrid and with a lovely group of fellow pupils at her kitchen in Cardiff. Astrid shared with us her wonderful knowlege and expertise in an informal and friendly way. She put us all at ease the moment we arrived. Throughout the day we had lots of delicious, freshly baked french pastries and breads, the cheese filled croissants were heavenly! At the end of the day I came home with the most delicious pear and almond tart and several tartlets filled with creme pattiserie and fresh raspberries that were-when I got home, quickly devoured by my family!! I now have the confidence and knowledge shared by Astrid to make these tarts at home and I know that if I am stuck Astrid is only a message away.
