Miller Mountain Guides

We had a day out with Tim exploring Skyes Cuillins which included Inaccessible Pinnicle, Sgurr Mic Choinnich and Sgurr Alasdair. Tim was the perfect guide, he made us feel confident in what feels like a very hostile environment! We came away from the day feeling like Tim had taught us so much, he would always explain what he was doing and why in such a clear way. More than all that though, Tim was really sound and we'll be booking in with him in the future.

I'm not long off the back of a 2 day Skye Cuillin Ridge Traverse. I completed the traverse as a pair, with Tim (Miller Mountain Guides) guiding us a long the way.Tim's professionalism shone through even before we set foot on the Misty Isle. He was communicating and making sure we had everything sorted before arriving.Upon arrival Tim was great at getting us set, ready and then starting the traverse. He navigated us to the start and was chatty and engaging all the way. Tim made a huge effort to engage with the conversation, he was so polite and interesting/interested that the conversation over both days just flowed naturally. Right from the off, he was great company and this made a huge difference to my experience of the ridge traverse.It was clear from the off that Tim is a class act. His safety, his calmness, his navigation skills, his communication and his knowledge of the ridge shone through almost instantly. Tim isnt a local, but if you point at something and want it to be explained, he will do so - to the extent that it seems like hes lived there his whole life. Either that, or he has equally annoying clients who ask too many questions!In terms of the climbing and guiding, again, Tim far exceeded my expectations. He gave me the confidence to do the entire ridge in one go, but he also gave us the freedom to scramble when it was safe to do so. On the severe climbs he showed his skill and experience by bounding up first and (massively) assisting us (me) in getting up the more technical sections after him.To summarise, Tim has every characteristic I would wish for in a mountian guide. Hes a lovely fella who is great company, he works hard for you, he looks after you, he speaks you through the knot tying, he is exceptionally patient and hes just an absolute joy to be with. I'm so glad I got to share the couple days I did with him.If you are considering anything with a guide, even just single munros, take Tim - it'll make your experience far more rewarding.

A friend of mine recommended Tim Miller for guiding services after she was guided by him on Liathach. I was looking to finish off my last Black Cuillin Munros which included Sgurr Dubh Mor. My wife wanted the extra reassurance and route experience a guide would bring. Friends had said Sgurr Dubh Mor can be tricky route finding and I'd previously descended years before due to heavy rain and fog so it was a good plan. Booking was straightforward and from his media and reviews echoed my friends recommendation. We met up in June 2021 and had a fantastic two days guided by Tim on Sgurr a Mhadaidh and Sgurr Ghreadaidh and Sgurr Nan Eag and Sgurr Dubh Mor. Tim's communication was excellent enjoyed our shared stories and we appreciated his Geological knowledge. He made uphill going more interesting! Very easy to get along with, good sense of humour and a very experienced guide particularly in the Cuillin. I would thoroughly recommend Tim to anyone, experienced climbers or beginners.

Not long home from a fantastic couple days traversing the Cuillin on Skye guided by Tim.It was a complete joy to share this experience with him. His professionalism shines through. Even when the weather changed for the worse his navigation and rope work were so dialled I never doubted our safety.110% recommend Tim. I'm looking forward to our next outing whenever that may be!
