Birchen Edge is the top of the hill/mountain I went to. It is a long walk next to Robin Hood Inn pub car park. It is a free car park if you are a member of the national trust. You need to climb to get to the hill and there is a huge rock.

A nice little walk for a lovely view. Can't beat nature and fresh air. Has 3 giant rocks named after Nelsons main warships from Trafalgar nearby. Epic.

Birchen edge is amazing for learning trad climbing as there are easy scrambles to the top of the climbs as well as good places to make anchors. It is also really scenic and some spots have good shade, perfect for climbing on a hot day.

Found this by chance. Nice little walk, but had to climb up a bit to reach the top! Not too difficult if taking your time. Great views once up there!

I love this area of the peak district. There are so many interconnected paths, large open areas and wooded areas that dogs can have a great run in. The rock face is great with plenty of routes for all sorts of level of climber (please ensure you have the correct safety gear and either experience or an experienced instructor).

Popular with climbers of all ages and a super viewing area of the surrounding 'edge' landscape make Birchen Edge a wonderful spot to stop for lunch.Have your sarnies sat on one of the three ships; 'Defiance', 'Royal Soverin' and flagship 'Victory' and grab plenty of photos of Nelson's Monument, trig point selfie and the glorious views.Combine with Gardoms Edge for a 4 miles hike. Excellent!

A nice tranquil spot with a convenient pub. Only minor snag is the route from the car park takes you along the main road with fast moving traffic. A good spot for exploring the Eastern Moors.

The carpark is just after an Inn, small, for about 20 cars. Paying machine was not working so it was FREE. you need to walk 50m on the road to reach the path's entrance. Then at the fork we took right, which is a steep way up. It was about 30min walk through fern, then Heather, before reaching the 3 boulders. 360 degrés view from the top. We had a little picnic at the top so stayed 2h there in total. We took the same way back but there is a flatter way around. We saw few people were climbing on the edge. Good place for a picnic.

Great climbing location for beginners and intermediates. Bouldering Rocks on top. Lovely scenery and walking routes. Cap parking next to Robin Hood pub at a cost of £4 for whole day. There are no toilet facilities.
