Smithy Pond
We visited as a couple, there was a choice of tables with chairs, stools and sofa style seating. A good range of fruit cider was on; the mango one was very good. The food was okay for the price, choosing from the two for X pounds menu and it certainly arrived quickly. The televised football was on so loud it became uncomfortable after a while so we didn't stay for dessert or coffee.

Had the Hunter's Chicken with a gammon on the bottom. Was beautiful. Great service beautiful scenery. Quality food.

Had a family get together to celebrate a birthday. Food is really good lots of choice.. we were told 30 mins waits, but I think it was a lot quicker. Nice staff. The favourite was Hunters chicken, but I had the Roast.

Went for Sunday roast first time visiting. Had to wait for our food, but to be fair we was told about this before we ordered and it wasnt that long either. The food was excellent nice atmosphere lovely big pub. Glad we went and when we are back in Derbyshire will go again.

Typical Greene King menu, which probably appeals to a lot of people. The pub was busy which suggests they cater for the tastes of a lot of people. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome but seem to struggle with large groups, which is understandable. Our group was for 12 and getting our meals delivered in a timely fashion could have been better. Most of our group were satisfield with their meal. I had the Squid starter and it was edible but rubbery. The scampi was edible and the Chips appeared to be deep fried oven chips, edible but lacking. The peas were like bullets, edible but not what you would expect. Overall the food was edible and typical pub grub. On the plus side, the speaker was playing sports stuff and when asked to reduce the volume it was done without any problem. I can't imagine why anyone would go out for a meal with family and / or friends and want to listen to sport or other inappropriate music" which makes it difficult to converse but hey ho. The Smithy Pond will appeal to a lot of people but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. If you are a local wanting a VFM meal

Went with friends for a meal , wish we hadn't not one of us had a nice meal! ranging from chewy rubber steaks to luke warm lasagna and cold chips and dry chunk of inedible bread!! Took an absolute age to stand and order food but that was due to lack of staff but they were very nice,I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone anymore its gone very much down hill, I certainly won't be returning!!

Lunch with a friend and my dog. Warm welcome and dog was impressed by the bowl of water and the other (well behaved) dogs. I had the prawn and chorizo risotto - tasty and filling. Excellent situation and we enjoyed a walk around the pond afterwards.

Always a lovely place to visit. Ordered a meal I've had before and when it arrived it was very small, ask the waiter if it was a kids meal as I was shocked and the response was lacking to say the least. Apart from that it was a great experience.
