Can't praise this home enough. The care my mother and us as a family received in my mothers end of life journey was excellent. The staff and manager couldn't do enough for us. Every need both for my mum and family where catered for. The team as a whole should get nothing but praise. Thank you to all involved in her care. Judith, Susan and Alison

My mum who has dementia stayed here for two weeks respite in January 2023. Myself, dad and mum visited the care home to discuss my mums ADLs (activities of daily living) previous to her stay. Unfortunately on visiting my mum the day after she started her respite at 12 midday she was still in bed, which was wet through with urine. After discussing this with the staff I was told that my mum said she didn’t want to get up, unfortunately my mum no longer has the mental capacity to make this decision due to her dementia which was discussed in our initial meeting of ADLs. I asked them to please get her up, washed and dressed for breakfast. On my next visit at 2pm I found her to be in a wet bed again. Her lips were very dry and she seemed delirious. Again I was informed she didn’t want to get up.After 9 days of being in the home she was admitted to hospital with an infection and dehydration. After a few weeks stay in hospital my mum returned home., she is now unable to walk and is bed bound. Before going into brambles she could get around fine. I would not recommend this care home.Following your reply to my reviewI chose not to have a chat and warm drink with you as I feel it will not help my mums condition or the upset caused to her family when found on multiple occasions to be in a wet bed at two in the afternoon and being found to be severely dehydrated on admission to hospital after 9 days in your care.I appreciate that your care users can ask for food and drink whenever they want but unfortunately as discussed in our initial meeting, my mum did not have the mental capacity to do this. On your advice I will be discussing this with Lancashire County Council adult safe guarding.

My mum is living there with mobility difficulties and dementia. All the staff are friendly towards myself and family and visiting has never been too much trouble for them. The care my mum is receiving is excellent. She has had a number of set backs since being there, but helping her has never been too much trouble, most of the staff make my mum laugh every day. With a special thankyou to Lisa the manager who keeps me informed reguarly of her care and well being

Not clearly signposted. From outside not apparent that it is a rest home.

My mum moved to The Brambles just over a month ago.We were very apprehensive and keen to find a home that was a good fit, both for mum and also for dad to be able to visit whenever he wished to do so.We now realise we made the right choice. Nothing is too much trouble for Sam and the team and we feel they genuinely have mums best interests at heart. We have been fully involved in all decisions re. Mums care and mum has settled in very well. The team always make us feel welcome on our visits, and they even look after Dad just like they would one of their own residents!
