Bill Savage French

We have taken French lessons from Bill for about 5 years and have no plans to stop. Each time we travel to France, I feel more confident in my ability to use the French I’ve learned in a way that can be understood! My vocabulary, accent, and knowledge of grammar have improved greatly, particularly over the last year. I look forward to continuing my French education with Bill until I can think in French!

Bill is a gifted and delightful teacher with a stress-free manner. He is professional, knowledgeable, organized, patient, kind, and skilled. As a mature beginning language student, with a life-time of teaching experience, I am impressed and very pleased to have found Bill as a private tutor. Bringing history, culture, and passion to language learning, he provides a contagious sense of enjoyment and, importantly, promotes confidence building. He sends photos of the white board during class (reducing the need for taking notes and increasing time to listen), and often records and sends a reading of the board to provide a reference for correct pronunciation. His method of exposing word patterns and building language by manipulating linguistic blocks makes learning both manageable and fun. Unencumbered by textbooks, classes and homework are customized, and Bill is available between classes to respond to questions with facts and informed reassurance. Working on his customized homework is reminiscent of the joy found in solving word puzzles—challenging and rewarding. I highly recommend Bill’s classes you will not be disappointed.

Bill est le meilleur professeur de français dans le monde! He teaches both me and my mom - she was an absolute beginner and I have had several years of French learning in my past. I've been amazed time and time again by his ability to adapt to my needs as someone who's already part-way through their learning journey, as well as amazed by how well my mom has been doing learning from him. Let's just say she went from OG Julia Child to having a general grasp on the whole language in basically no time! Every lesson and homework is personalized to each student, and Bill has a plethora of tricks and resources he has created throughout the years that you can't find ANYWHERE else, not to mention stories and anecdotes about the language and culture. He makes it feel like there's a history/latin class mixed in as an epic bonus, and it really does support your memory and learning of the language. It's AWESOME. So ditch your Duolingo or Rosetta Stone and get ready to laugh and learn with the best of the best, Mr. Bill Savage!!!

I only have positive things to say about Bill. My friend and I have been learning French for about 14 months together and I am genuinely impressed with our progress thus far. Bill carefully crafts his material to tailor our needs and approaches each lesson with enthusiasm. He is very knowledgeable, patient, flexible in his teaching style, and also funny. This makes language learning a lot more enjoyable than the traditional textbook approach. The amount of homework is reasonable and bolsters what we learned and our confidence in the language. I highly recommend Bill to anyone pursuing French.

Bill’s teaching method aligns learning a language to your pace and plays into your strengths. Every lesson is curated and spots you’re struggling in he concentrates on while moving fast over parts that you grasp quickly. This massively speeds up learning the early elements of a language so you can concentrate on getting conversational. Can’t recommend Bill and his teaching enough.

I've been learning French on my own and through school off and on for years now, but I've learned more with Bill Savage in the past 6 months than all my other education combined. He has a super unique teaching pedagogy that has been perfected over the years to teach French from an English perspective.

I simply cannot recommend Monsieur Savage enough! His level of enthusiasm, vast wealth of knowledge, and literal lifetime of experience simply cannot be beat. I believe that learning best occurs when you are having fun and that the most effective learning is indistinguishable from dedicated play.
