After a few years of maybe playing it a little too safe and losing sight of what makes them special I feel like New & Lingwood have rediscovered their mojo. The latest is back to its colourful, idiosyncratic best. And their dressing gowns are genuinely peerless.

I've used New and Lingwood for years and usually attend the shop for suits and other bits however I ordered a shirt online and made the error of picking a linen one by accident. When i returned the package i did so using Royal Mail and didn't add tracking.Obviously Royal Mail lost the package. After following up with New & Lingwood they spend a week or so looking for it and Royal Mail said it was lost. New and Lingwood have returned to me with a Credit Memo and are honouring the refund anyway. A small gesture however I think it show's how they think of their customers. Very pleased to say I will continue to shop there thanks to Joel and his team (and the beautiful clothes).

Stephane isn’t my personal couturier, but it feels like it, he makes me feel like a king and to be honest, L’État n’est pas moi! But perhaps someday I will finally feel like I’m the King of the world! In the meantime, I’ll just dress like one! I am descended from knights of the Maltese Cross but the only sword I use is the one I was born with and then I supplement it by being a cunning linguist. I don’t play chess but knights can beat a queen by making the leaps they don’t expect. Queens are powerful but the game isn’t over until the king is mated or stalemated, either way. While the King still moves, the game is still afoot! Savile Row loves me in a cape and no one has actually seen me in London looking my best. Just wait! I have Stephane to thank; and clothes don’t make the man, but they definitely help one succeed when one might otherwise fail. Merci beaucoup pour tous et vous, Stephane et New & Lingwood!

As mentioned by other reviewers, I was also caught unawares by the shop's bizarre return policy. At the same time, I asked politely whether they would be able to apply the same 10% discount to a store purchase as an online purchase but was also told no.I cannot fathom why a distinguished retail brand wouldn't at least try to meet a customer half way. They could have offered a complimentary tie or a pair of braces (anything other than the curt response I did get) and I would have likely made other purchases from them in the future. As it is, however, I will be taking my business to other places in Jermyn Street or the Piccadilly Arcade.Just to add: the jacket has now been altered. However, there was still an issue with the buttons, there was unacceptable scarring in the velvet and one of the button holes was unacceptably shredded. The jacket looked more like something found in a dingy vintage shop more than a new jacket from an allegedly esteemed mens clothier.Yet there would be no talk of returning the jacket. And while it'll be a decent outcome if the jacket is properly fixed, I would much have preferred to not have to visit the shop four times and still be worse off than had I bought the jacket online.

They have some of the finest clothing when it comes to stunning robes and smoking jackets, they have sharp coloured cords and the most wonderful socks. The skull and crossbones designs are eye catching and they can outfit you head to toe with the most British of clothing. A must to visit if looking for superior quality menswear.

I’ve been shopping here for 16 years, still wearing suits, ties and shirts that are over a decade old - unashamedly it’s just incredible quality. The staff are serious Jermyn St experts and will guide you to the perfect outfit, wonderful bunch of people. I’d give N&L six stars if I could.

Originally an Eton tailor, as I understand it, and still a very traditional feel to their shop, which always has one of the most attractive window displays on Jermyn Street.Bought a few shirts here, and rather liked the cloths used, as well as the fit. Their clothes in general can occasionally veer slightly towards what some people might consider a tad garish, but at least in their selection of shirts they also use a more restrained palette.

Nicholas and his team are a pleasure to deal with. I’ve had some really good purchases from them, sometimes knowing exactly what I want when I haven’t even realised myself! Knowledge of fabrics and tailoring is exceptional. A no pressure to purchase environment unlike other high end tailors in the area. Would highly recommend!
