Very friendly and helpful staff from management level all the way down the ranks! The building is well decorated, clean and well maintained! A happy homely atmosphere! I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to work or live here!

Young jobseekers avoid at all costs. If you are young looking to start out in care you’ll get no support here. They will pile on the pressure hoping you’ll quit or they’ll find petty grounds to fire you. The management are quite a closed circle of people and will 100% set you up to fail if you just don’t fit in to their liking. There is a severe and unnecessary dislike of young carers in this place.

Do not put your loved one into Alexander House! Read the newspaper articles on this place. My 92yo mobile, dementia dad is sadly at Alexander House and he has been very badly neglected, suffered malnutrition, falsified food charts. Left in unsafe blocked in positions in his room (I have photos) with no sensor mat in place and his zimmer deliberately out of his reach, setting him up for another fall! Left half naked on his bed, broken arm, two windows open, snowing outside, sensor mat unplugged from the wall, his bedroom door closed so nobody would hear his cries for Help. I have photos! My dad who is very sociable is encouraged not to leave his room! Sits alone all day! My mum and I visit him daily.Staff have him unshaved, no teeth, food over him and on his shoes, looking very scruffy when he likes to look smart and tidy.. He is very sad, lonely and depressed. There are No daily activities or wellbeing at all! No stimulation or companionship.I've recently caught a young carer abusing him in his room at night, caught in the act by myself and my 87yo mum at 11.15pm just after he had a fall. She didn't know mum and I were standing behind her where we saw her yelling in my dad's face as he was sat sad on his bed in his pj's with broken arm, bash on head and bruised ribs, had no dinner or supper! (injuries all caused due to actions of the new manager). I have reported the abusive attack to the police and Care Inspectorate. My mum and I have received no apology or reassurances from management. Staff are untrained.. Mostly overseas agency workers with very poor communication who even ask my mum and I to assist them with dad's personal care and force him to walk with rigid limbs! Lack of training re bulk of staff, none trained in dementia. They have voices like fog horns, know nothing about sundowning, triggers, hallucinations or general dementia. My dad's care plan didn't exist till I asked to see it recently and he had been there since last November, then staff were seen quickly concocting dad's care plan after giving me lots ofworthless excuses as to why I couldn't see the care plan now that I've read it I'm shocked at the falsifications also by a nurse and senior carer. Also the complaints reports do not exist! A senior carer told me last week in my dad's room, she believed weight charts are being falsified. My dad has recently suffered a broken arm, bruised ribs, cuts on his back and bash on his head due to the unqualified, untrained dreadful female manager taking it upon herself to reconfigure furniture in his room without discussing with family or medical professional as she has no nursing background and is hardly ever there, she disappears for days on end especially after police interview her, she has also been seen shouting at other family members at the duty office and displaying childish behavior with a talk to the Hand attitude. She is awful to say the least, also the area Manager Anne Wilson, who also displays rude and intimidating behaviour towards myself and my Mum, fully supports the new female Manager and the CEO of Holmes Care doesn't want to know about any complaints. Elderly residents have told me the new Manager treats the residents like dirt on her shoes and makes their lives even more miserable, apparently residents have filed official complaints to care inspectorate to have her removed asap as she's not fit for the job. There is a dreadful atmosphere at Alexander House. I see many stressed, unhappy and neglected residents and injury through falls of neglected residents. The night staff don't even know who the manager is, no duty manager either. It scores WEAK on care inspectorate reports with extensions upon extensions to improve. Scores WEAK for leadership too. Recently had covid and no protocols in place, the night staff tonight at 7.30pm asked my mum why she was wearing a mask, they had no idea there was covid or which resident/s. Scary place to be. £3 per day allocated to each resident for food which is awful. my dad given one potato waffle for his dinner, often no supper, starving, thirsty!
