Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa

It’s an Ok place, no bathrobe or slippers a big let down for a spa hotel!!!Rooms are very average they have the essentials but our room was not made up in the morning after our breakfast so again it felt a bit average.If you want to have a relaxing weekend THIS IS NOT THE PLACE the spa was full of kids playing and there was nothing relaxing about the noise. This is not the kids fault but I the hotel should have some restrictions.No one person came to clean the pool area and it felt dirty and not taking care of.I have stayed at a different branch and it was completely different, much more refined and elegant than this.I wouldn’t be coming back

Visited the spa for my birthday, the spa facilities were great. There was a range of facilities. There was a hydro pool, swimming pool and a thermal suite which had a number of rooms such as steam room, sauna, ice room, salt room. Had a very relaxing time. We also had a back and shoulder massage which was very good however it did not last the full time as stated on the website. It was much shorter. My masseuse did a great job however the masseuse my husband got was not good at all. Therefore mixed feelings about the massages.The afternoon tea was very impressive, wide selection of stuff to eat. The staff were super friendly in the restaurant however they did not ask whether we had any dietary requirements. There was a ham sandwich on the stand and we don’t eat meat therefore was not impressed with that. However overall it was one of the best spa days I have experienced.

Room overlooking a car park not what I would describe as De Luxe: no bathrobes or slippers. The room was cold .When I rang reception to point this out the person they sent didn't know how to adjust the heat. Food So so red cabbage in my main course inedible. On the plus side the staff did their best to be helpful. Can't recommend the dinner deal. The Spa looked nice ,maybe better to go for that

We had a relaxing few days at the Berystede for a birthday gift. We were upgraded on our arrival by Freda at front desk which was an excellent gesture. Although the hotel is very grand and has some good facilities, there are signs that it needs some updating around the edges. The bathroom, although adequate, was in need of a remodel. The spa had good facilities internally, but the outside pool area decking is bordering on dangerous. In addition to this, it seemed the outdoor sunbeds were also in need of replacement. Out of 5 sunbeds, only 3 were usable. There were other deckchairs and chairs available although these just seem to be strewn across the lawn and stayed in those positions over the time we were there unless rearranged by a guest.The restaurant and bar was immaculate and the staff very friendly and helpful.The food although good, seemed to be missing something to make it great, i would have expected slightly more from the dinners.This being said we still had a very relaxing time but we may try somewhere else in future

My daughter and I had a wonderful day at Macdonald Berystede Spa. The facilities were amazing, the food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Matthew, the Front Desk Manager, who went over and beyond the call of duty to find my necklace that I had left in the pocket of my bathrobe and post it back to me. I am extremely grateful to be reunited with it. I fully recommend a Spa day at this wonderful venue, and we will certainly return ourselves, maybe for a longer Spa break.

This was my first visit. The hotel is well located for Lapland Uk where we were going. Reception was very busy so took a while to get booked in. Additional staff at bookin time needed or some offer of refreshments in the bar while waiting would be good.Room was good and was clean and tidy and had everything that I needed.We had a young school age child in the group so the family time for the pool was very much appreciated and enjoyed together with the other spa facilities. I was impressed to see the staff paying attention to the age restrictions in the hot tub as family time can be challenging for other guests.We had our evening meal in the restaurant and was disappointed with the meal quality. We had to send one meal back to be reheated and the other meals were only warm at best. The breakfast was a buffet which sometimes will have items running out but was reasonably good with a good range of food. I did notice that request from other guests for poached eggs and porridge were accepted by staff and provided which was very good service.Overall I was happy with my stay and would stay here again.

Loved everything about the Berystead hotel, from the cozy interiors to the Christmas decorations! A four-star, only because the WiFi in my room wasn’t working, and there was nothing much the receptionists could do about it. However, the warm staff, and inviting breakfast made up for the minor inconvenience with the WiFi. Overall, I’d a wonderful experience!

My daughter & I had a fantastic Spa Day at Berystede last Thursday. What a beautiful venue in stunning grounds. I had a back, neck and scalp massage by the lovely Laura Buckland. She was very friendly and asked if I was well and if there were any areas that she should concentrate on. She also gave me lots of good advice and recommended certain products. Very professional.The swimming pool, sauna and hydro pool were superb. Everywhere so well maintained and spotlessly clean. Lovely showers and toiletries too.My daughter also spent time in the gym. Our package included a delicious 2 course lunch in the restaurant overlooking the terrace. All the staff throughout were friendly, courteous and very helpful. I enjoyed my day so much, that I purchased gift vouchers for a friend for her Christmas present. Thank you for a lovely day and experience.

We came with our 4 children to stay the night before we went to legoland. The hotel was beautiful. The lady on reception was very helpful and lovely to talk to. Every member of staff we walked past always gave a nice hello, very friendly. Our rooms were immaculate. The kids were so happy with their twin pop up beds and said they were very comfortable. My bed was lovely! The bar man was very attentive. We had hot chocolates in the sun. Breakfast had a wide range of options. We had a mixture of cereal, toast and cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone. Hopefully we get the chance to visit again some day.

My friend and I booked a spa weekend here and we have had a fantastic time. We thoroughly enjoyed using the spa facilities and both enjoyed two treatments.I had a facial with Cam and she was so insightful about my skin. I also had Emma for a neck and shoulders massage - she well and truly battered me and left me feeling very well massaged!We both had a wonderful weekend and are planning to rebook next year.
