Having just spent a week on the Splendour with our family (6 adults, 3 grandkids — 9, 7 and 1 year old), I can say this was a fabulous trip and something we will long-remember. Initial reluctance by the mid-level generation was replaced with enthusiasm for the whole trip. Captain Ted was tireless in entertaining the kids (fishing, kayaking, crabbing, dolphins, whirl pools, mystical caves, piloting" the boat) while keeping us all safe and informed. Chef Thomas's meals were interesting

Sailing aboard the Splendour was a wonderful experience. It is a worthy ship, clean, comfortable, with a worn-in homey feel and plenty of room to find the comfort you wish. The captain, Ted, was kindly responsive to our needs and made sure we were having a good time, which made the guests feel quite at home. Our cabin was clean, with head, shower, plenty of room for the bags of transatlantic travelers, and a comfortable bed with nary a rocking at sheltered anchorages. The food, too, was terrific and plenty. Breakfast was served at 8:30 am and hot and hardy for a leisurely start to the day. No need for early calls to meet the tour bus; we were already on it. Schedules for lunchtime and dinner adjusted to cruising to sites or trips ashore, if you so wanted. Nonetheless, food always arrived just when you needed it.During the day, we cruised to sites that provided interest for the geologist, botanist, historian, and animal lover (seals, dolphins, puffins, kittiwakes, gannets, black-back gulls, guillemots, razorbills).Wine-inspired evenings were filled with happy-hearted, lively conversions with new-found friends or listening to Scottish/Irish folk songs accompanied by guitar or fiddle. We will always hold our cruise on the Splendour dear in our hearts.

This was the absolute dream of a holiday! Friendly skipper Ted's knowledge of the area and the animal world there is second to none. Thomas's skills in the kit hen are amazing. Local produce exquisitely prepared! We felt so spoilt! The other guests were wonderful, too. So much to enjoy together and talk about. Great company! The sad farewell was sweetened by the sightings of dolphins just before the return. Finishing with a bang for sure!

We just got off the Splendour after spending 7 days with her and her awesome crew. We had the most wonderful time. Our Skipper, Ted, was an amazing host who was very knowledgeable about the area’s flora and fauna. It was obvious he sincerely wanted us to have the best time possible. Iggy, the chef extraordinaire, served up meals that were unforgettable. We tried several things we had not had before and wondered at how well he could prepare things we had tasted before. We also were fortunate to have Becky along to halp make sure we lacked for nothing! The crew was incredible. The scenery and wildlife we experienced were breathtaking. Ted knew the best spots to drop us off whether it was for a hike/walk on a lovely trail or trip through a quant town.We were fortunate to be joined on our trip by four extremely fun fellow passengers. Made for the perfect social gathering. All in all we highly recommend Argyl Cruising. This trip was scenic, fun, and as relaxing or active as you want to make it. We did the inlets and isles cruise.

A fabulous opportunity to enjoy the Scottish scenery and wildlife in the comfort of a beautiful boat. Ted and Tom made a great team. The food was First Class and Splendour was a most comfortable boat as well as being surprisingly spacious. Thoroughly recommended.

A wonderful experience on board Splendour, a sympathetically converted wooden fishing trawler. The skipper Ted was extremely competent and took up to some of the most beautiful parts of the western isles. His background as a marine biologist and naturalist made the trip even more special and Tom, the chef, produced amazing meals every day from his tiny galley. Thank you both for an unforgettable and wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful 6 day cruise with Argyll Cruising around Aran and the small islands in July 2023. The scenery was stunning. There was the option to go on lovely and varied walks when we moored or to stay on deck and enjoy the views. We saw sea eagles, puffins, gannets diving and other sea birds. Dolphins raced in the wash alongside the boat and we marvelled at otters and porpoises. Our overnight stops were in beautiful locations.Ted, skipper was helped by Laura and chef Tom. They were unfailingly helpful, looked after us, the 8 guests, so well and the food was absolutely superb. Delicious fresh fish meals - or tasty alternatives for non fish eaters. We were also treated to venison cottage pie, salads, soups, languistines, local cheeses & fabulous desserts. Our cabin was cosy with plenty of storage space and lots of hot water for the shower. All in all it was a gem of a holiday. We think we’ll definitely be back in the future to enjoy another trip with Ted and his top team.

A wonderful holiday where customer satisfaction was the skipper's primary goal. He and his 'team' were very considerate to all guests and made sure that we were informed of any changes to the schedule. Luckily we had a lovely sunny week with one exception - (...it is Scotland!!). David and I would definitely recommend the holiday as being something special. Food was really good with a very inventive chef...we all asked for the recipes ... but sadly he must have forgotten to share.Thank you so much Ted, Laura and Ben.David and Teresa

When describing our cruise with Ted, it’s hard to find a superlative that hasn’t been used a dozen times already!! The experience on board was special and unforgettable. Thomas is a miracle worker in his tiny galley - the meals were as delicious as they looked, and they looked amazing. The use of local ingredients including mussels and langoustines is a credit to Tom and Ted’s respect for their environment. Our 3 nights were a wonderful adventure of stunning scenery and unspoilt nature walks, in comfort and safety, and the concerned attentions of Skipper Ted and Chef Tom. Thank you so much

Skipper Ted took us on a very special wildlife spotting journey through gorgeous lochs to lovely quiet harbors, islands, and beaches. The September weather was super, a lot of sun, some rain, and generally not cold at all. We saw dolphins racing the boat, over the top castles and mansions. Thomas, our chef, served amazing meals, usually locally sourced fish, vegetables, meat, and game. We will be on board again in the future. Our group can't recommend this trip enough.
