Seems pretty cool but despite having asked beforehand at the Plan Your Visit Section and being told that it was fine to enter the last exhibition before 5:15 pm, so we could roam about until 6:00 pm when it's their closing time, we were ushered out at 5:15 pm on the dot saying they had to lock up now. Very, very disappointing!Especially as the kids seemed to love this exhibition. All we got after complaining to the manager was a well-meant sorry!" but that doesn't help when you drove over an hour to get there and you saved the best for last for the kids.So

The place is a must to visit. Especially if you like to explore history and heritage. But regardless there’s so much interesting things to see. Perfect for kids and good accessibility everywhere (except the ships).

The Historic Dock yard has a lot to see and do. Two ships from differet periods of time to go on, and an submarine. If you pay a bit extra the (Call the Midwife tour) which is filmed here. Make sure you book the submarine as it gets fully book quite early.

This was a part of Chatham dockyard and you are taken around the history of lifeboats via a walkway that goes past a number of real lifeboats. My favourite was the one built in the same year i was born (1975), and it saved a total of 258 lives throughout its life. You could actually go in it and imagine what it was like be out at sea.I remembered the Blue Peter appeals for lifeboats and one of them is exhibited.Well worth a look.
