We came across Suzanne via Google search and we arranged to meet with both with her, as well as one other home staging company.It was clear from early on that Suzanne had a great eye for design and was gifted to know how to make our home best saleable.Although we were initially resistant to one or two of her design ideas, I am pleased that we listened to her guidance and we ended up implementing the vast majority of her suggestions. We opted to sell/dispose of larger furniture items and replace them with newly bought, more minimal items to generally help unclutter our apartment.This was a challenge since we have a toddler, with all the toys and bits of pieces that clutter up a typical flat. Suzanne helped us to prepare the flat for estate agent photos and showed us how to prepare the flat in advance of each showing.It felt like a lot of work at the time but we were meticulous about how we presented the property for viewing each time. I enlisted the help of Suzanne at DesRes with a large 6 bed house in Claygate that I had struggled to sell following the passing of my mother.Agents had valued the property at £1.4m but over the course of a year after a lot of decluttering and a full house clean, we had not received a single offer.Following her site visit, Suzanne made a number of constructive suggestions for improvements that made absolute sense – for example, changing the garish blue carpet in the dining room.It’s difficult to consider a house you know well objectively and Suzanne explained that, because the living spaces were so large, they needed carefully positioned furniture and accessories to make sense of their purpose to viewers. Similarly, as there were numerous bedrooms, each needed some personalisation in order to make them stand out individually and be memorable.There were a number of items and pieces of furniture that had belonged to my mother still in the property. Suzanne advised on what should be removed, but I appreciated that she also identified pieces that could remain alongside the contemporary furniture she would be renting in, thus saving me some money in that area.In addition, I entrusted Suzanne to purchase items that could not be rented, including curtains and ceiling light shades, that she sourced and fitted at a very reasonable cost.I was beyond impressed with the result.
