Richard Shepherd - Utility & Transmission Survey Solutions LtdOccasionally we have a client with a large plot of land that we need to measure more accurately than we can with our equipment.We have recently used Richard Shepherd on a couple of projects to assist us with a topographical survey. One of our clients has a property close to a small stream which is registered as a flood risk by the Environment Agency and we need to instruct a flood risk assessment to satisfy the planning officers. This required accurately plotting the threshold level of the entrance doors to the river level at the back for the property approximately 50 metres away, having no clear line of sight. Richard undertook this challenge getting the information through reeds and boggy land and river level relative to known datum (Sea Level) that we needed for the Flood assessors modelling.On a more recent occasion, we have a large garden where a very dense wooded area forms a boundary to the garden to a side road. Our client wants to build a large store in the garden area, and form a new site access to serve it. For highway safety we need to demonstrate clear line of sight to oncoming traffic and accurately plot the trees for a report to identify the trees to be trimmed, cut or retained for the planning application. Richard carried out a topographical survey to accurately plot out the area relative to the property, and also did a 3d scan of the trees where it was too dense to enter safely.So I have no hesitation to recommend Richard to anyone requiring an accurate land survey carrying out, and we will engage his services again when the need arises.DBD Architectural Consultancy Ltd
