Edinburgh Falconry & Fishing

Just reminiscing on our trip last May and realized I hadn't reviewed fly fishing with Mik! What a wonderful way to kick off our Scotland visit. Being from Montana, we had high expectations for this excursion and they were surpassed. Can't wait to come back and go out fishing (and maybe try our hands at falconry) again!

We had an amazing day of fishing with Michael! Michael picked us up from the hotel and underway to the loch we made a stop to get some drinks. Michael told us a lot about the location and we the loch was located in a beautiful surrounding. Me and the lads are not the best fisher men around, so Michael thought us everything and we actually caught a few nice trouts! A very nice day to spend in the open, Michael is a very friendly and social guy. Thanks Michael!

I have been living in Scotland nearly five years, and heard about Wild Days from the Falconry Centre at Dalhousie Castle. Since then, Mik and I have been out at least 4 times for falconry and fishing. On my first trip with Mik, we went out in the morning, hunting rabbit with two of his top birds, one a seasoned veteran, and the other a rookie. After parking and a 10 minute walk, we started throwing some ferrets down rabbit holes to chase the prey out. 10 minutes in and BOOM! A rabbit sprung out of the hole and Mik's proud hawk jumped right on it. First catch of the day. Another 15 minutes later, BOOM! Another one!!! It was unreal! We had two rabbits within 30 minutes of getting out of the car! After ANOTHER successful catch, we decided to try another location with Mik's other bird. After an hour of waiting, the bird finally was able to lock on some prey, but it got away. It was apparent that this bird was still getting the hang of it. But after another hour or so, the bird got a second chance. A rabbit jumped out of its hole, ran across the grass into the woods, and the bird jumped after... Amazing to watch a bird get its first proper kill!4 rabbits in one day! What an amazing trip! I look forward to seeing Mik again - He is a true outdoors man and knows all the best spots for hunting/fishing.

Brilliant first experience for myself and my 11 year old. Mick is an excellant and very knowledgable guide and was brilliant with my son who was lucky enough to get a go of flying Kass. Would absolutely recommend and hopefully be doing this again soon!!

Mik is a super nice guy and he's not going to charge you an arm and leg for a good day on or along the water. He's fair and extremely knowledgeable! Check him out!

Awesome day out fishing in the picturesque Lochs just outside of Edinburgh. We caught 3 huge rainbow trout and greatly enjoyed our day in the countryside.

Had a grea time with Mik, he was such a great guide. Very patient, teaching us how to cast, and also explained the history beyhind different attractions along the way to our fishing trip. We successfully managed to catch 2 fishes at the lake. Highly recommend going with Mik, he was also kind enough to drop off my scarf which I left in his car the next day to our hotel.

Last year I spent from September do December an exchange semester in Edinburgh.In November I booked a fishing trip at Edinburgh Falconry & Fishing in the hope to catch some trouts. Mik picked me up at my place (really nice of him) and we went to a local trout Loch. I can tell you, this was by far one of the most amazing days during my stay in Edinburgh. We had an amazing time there and Mik explained me a lot about the Loch and the best methods to catch some trouts at this time of the season. What can I say? I knew from the beginning that Mik is an expert and while all the other fishermen had to go home without catching anything I caught 5 big trouts.Mik is a great guy and we had a lot of fun. The only sad part of the day was when we had to go home. Thanks to you Mik for that unforgettable memory and hopefully we are going to spend another fishing day together one time.

What an awesome day in Edinburgh, Scotland. This was a 10/10 fishing day with Mik. He was so helpful, patient and kind while he taught me. I’m a beginner and he brought all the gear and took me out to a local Loch. Such an awesome day out and I’d recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy some Scottish fishing. Very well priced too!
