The Garway Moon Inn

We stayed here because it was near oldfield forge and the service was outstanding. They tried to help us as much as they could. We needed wifi to wfh and they restarted all routers to ensure it worked for us. The indian guy preparing breakfast was very attentive and offered plenty of options. Very personal touch at all times since there are only 3 rooms for guests. Nights can be a bit noisy because the building is made of timber and there is a pub downstairs at the end of the day. Rooms are clean and tidy. Checkout was at 10am but they allowed us to stay until 12 because we asked them for it.

Nice inn to stay and sleep. We went for one night and we are happy in an overview. The service and staff were really helpful and friendly. The chef cooked breakfast all what you wanted at the moment. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Only thing is that you can listen outside from your room as the walls are not soundproofed. They let us stay working there during the morning even though the check out was before do they are really helpful.

Great place, great atmosphere and accommodation and food was excellent. The evening meal beside a blazing fire just perfect. Breakfast and service excellent. Staff could not do enough to make our stay a wonderful one. Close to the forge if you want to do a day there, merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone. Sarah and Raymond.

Great Sunday lunch. Roast pork with loads of vegetables and gravy, crackling and apple sauce. Absolutely delicious!

We came for dinner Friday evening and were incredibly impressed with the food - delicious and great value. We had cuttlefish to start, steak and ale pie and the best Moroccan lamb ever! Staff were all friendly and welcoming too. I don’t usually leave reviews but felt compelled to after having the best meal out we’ve had in ages.

When we arrived, the chef walked out and we were told that there was no food that evening. We asked where we could get something to eat and then we went to find the pub.When we returned only to find that they were serving bar food, and, had managed to get another chef inIf they had told us what they were planning to do, it would have saved us finding and eating somewhere else.These things happen, breakfast was superb, the room was fabulous, good pint of ale.Would we stay again ?Yes and would recommend it.

Had a beautiful weekend stay at this fabulous Inn. Rooms were comfortable, clean and extremely comfy! Everyone and I mean everyone, we're so friendly, welcoming and accommodating, including staff and locals! We stayed 2 nights and my Gluten Free diet was catered for, food was lovely and breakfast was yummy! Part of our trip was to do a black smithing work shop at Old field Forge which was near to the Inn and well worth doing! We will be back!

Unfortunately this was a rather disappointing stay. When looking at the reviews we were looking forward to a couple of relaxing nights away with great service but this was not what we experienced. Upon coming into the room, we stayed in the sun room, there was clearly a draft coming from the window and upon closer inspection there was a gap all the way round the right window which we plugged with loo roll to lessen the draft. The water in the bathroom is scalding hot, with no signs to say so. The sink in the bathroom you had to run for about 20-30 seconds for the water to cool down (with the tap tuned to cold) and I ran a bath and waited an hour to get in for it to be a bearable temperature. The service was okay but definitely seemed like the bare minimum, asking us about how our food was definitely seemed like a forgotten after thought. The food itself was okay, although in any other situation we wouldn't pay that price for it. Finally upon checking out there was no one there for us to speak to about any of the issues we had and weren't even asked by the chef we handed the keys to if we had a nice stay. Overall a poor experience, especially when woken up at 12.30am on a Tuesday night by the very loud patrons of the pub below!
