The Penny Farthing
Chose The Penny Farthing for Sunday lunch as it seemed to have some of the best reviews for the area, we were staying in the area for a few days.On the food front, it would only be 4 stars but that's mainly due to personal preferences. The Sunday lunch was a decent portion with plenty of veg and all pretty tasty. The beef was nice and tender but my preference is served pink and the spuds weren't as crispy as I'd like. But, it's a decent portion and we cleared out plates so that's a good sign! On the dessert front, my choice of chocolate orange torte was a little too rich and wasn't made in house which might explain why. It was quite a long dessert menu so personally I'd offer less but make them all in house if possible. It's a five star review as the staff were really great and went beyond just taking our order. We're a small family and they interacted well with all of us and made us feel very welcome.Like I say, the food was good and we would return if in the area; the service and welcome were excellent and that's all part of the overall experience!

Would just like to say a MASSIVE thank you to the Penny Farthing staff today. I visited to celebrate my Dads 85th birthday and the lunch we all had was really good and great value. The service was excellent and we were all extremely happy. On the way out my Mum had a fall as she missed her step. We picked her up and sat her down outside. The staff were very friendly and quick to ask if we needed any help and at that point I thought all was fine. She took a turn for the worse and both patrons and the staff jumped to help by bringing cushions and blankets and most importantly calling an ambulance. Thankfully she is fine now after a thorough check up by the Paramedics. The staff and patrons of the Penny Farthing went above and beyond today and I would just like to say from myself my Mum and my Dad a MASSIVE THANK YOU.

Went for Sunday lunch today. All the staff were lovely and the service was excellent. Loved that I had a choice of 2 different veggie roasts and my partner really enjoyed his lamb. Also loved that it came with a side of cauliflower cheese, always a favourite and most places charge extra for it. Thanks so much for a great lunch!

We were on holiday in the area and popped in for a drink at the recommendation of the lady whose accommodation we were staying at. We weren’t disappointed, the service was very good and the pub had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere; because of this we decided to book a table for the following evening for dinner. Again we were not disappointed, the food was great - lamb shank with mash and gammon and chips. All very reasonably priced. If we had been staying in the area longer, this would have become our “Local”.

This place is amazing. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing and so well presented. My only criticism is there was too much of it. We did ask for leftovers to be packed for us and we had enough for tea the next day. Good value indeed x

Food menu was impressive but I was too late to order but will return earlier next time. Good beers and service. In an area of ordinary pub fare this looked to be much better
