There is a lot of change going at the present time. There is no central bus station anymore. However, signage does help someone find the right bus stop. I'm very critical with regard to public wheelchair accessible toilets. The single that did exist was at the bus station, which is now a commercial building being constructed at the present time. Granted, there are some businesses like McDonald's that do have wheelchair and disabled persons toilets. However, it's my experience that they are often closed.Sadly, due to austerity measures, some of the big names, such asC & A, Marks and Spencer, and some smaller businesses shut in recent times. What shops there are pretty decent with the likes of Primark and the reinvigorated shopping centre with the likes of Waterstones and others offering shopping opportunities there for we consumers. There are other attractions, such as the WW2 bomb shelters, and there are architectural attractions, e.g., old buildings, bridges, and so on. In particularthe magnificent railway arches which, honestly, impossible to miss! Sort out the public disabled persons toilet Stockport Council, please! That is why I rated Stockport 4 stars and not five.

Spoken to like a piece of dirt by the ticket women, me and friend had paid for ticket but wouldn't let her through as the delayed service for the same company wouldn't let her purchase online for the same journey. Ticket women at 9.30pm was dismissive and very rude. Wouldn't let her go within 10 feet of public if she was my employee. Disgusting behaviour with all her excessive training" on opening a barrier."

Stockport train center is a major communication hub for Stockport residents. There are total 4 platforms. UBER and other taxi services available here. Nice and clean and usually less crowded. Just next to the station there is a Sainsbury local supermarket.

1st train journey this millennium. My last was as an able bodied passenger, this time I'm disabled.Station has decent parking & drop off/pick up point. Was as clean as a train station can be. Usual grime but no rubbish. Staff were fantastic and helpful.Big shout out to Tom who advised me and assisted me on to the train. Exactly the sort of person you want in a customer facing role. All the staff were excellent but he was above and beyond.

Arrived an hour before my train departed so I could grab a drink but was told I couldn’t go through with my 1st class ticket until 20mins before my train departed. Absolutely no where to sit outside the barrier before you get in. I won’t be traveling from here again. Good luck to any food & drink vendors if this is the policy.

All the great stores have gone. It's full of posh bars, tanning salons and nail bars. Rubbish for shopping. Even the market has gone down hill.

Arrived at the rail station and walked to Mersey Square. The precinct was busy (school holidays just started). A lot of it is under cover. Building work in the centre for improvements. A variety of shops, and up the brew is the large undercover market. Much to see and find.

Stockport is a fairly large station with trains to Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Scarborough, Nottingham, Norwich and many stations in between. Station staff are available to assist at the entrance and on the platforms. Toilets are available.
