A Modern Yarn

I started at A Modern Yarn earlier this year at the 4-week crochet beginners course. Michaela created a warm, friendly environment where I felt comfortable in learning the craft. That course led me to take up crochet seriously as a hobby, and I now go to A Modern Yarn weekly. The group are so kind and friendly, I have made friends and Michaela has gone above and beyond to support me. Michaela is talented, very knowledgeable on all things yarn and always so welcoming. Our crochet evenings are the highlight of my week, and I' now making hats, scarves and cushion covers! Thank you Michaela for helping me find a new hobby and feel part of a new community. I could not recommend the shop, Michaela and her courses more highly.

I did an introduction to crochet course with Michaela today and it was brilliant. Very well organised, a lovely environment. Michaela was so patient giving everyone 1:1 support and expert tuition and instantly put me at ease as I am a total beginner. She is a very talented artist and I can’t wait for the next event! I spent a delightful Sunday learning to crochet with Michaela and Julie, and a small group of other beginners. Clear instructions, lots of support and a really collaborative atmosphere. The shop is full of beautiful yarns, and everything you might require to get creative. Inspiring.

I was so excited to visit A Modern Yarn, when you enter you are not overwhelmed by the amount of choices because of the way this store has been curated. Michaela is truly so talented and has an amazing way of organising this stock it’s beautiful, the neutral decor makes all of this rainbow colour pop! It’s such a welcoming environment, when my little boy pulled out all of the yellow wool (forever sorry about that by the way) Michaela was so relaxed and nice and saw the funny side (although I was mortified and wanted the floor to swallow me whole), it made me feel so welcomed and relaxed. It’s truly a treasure trove and a must have for any yarn lover, catering for all price pockets. Can’t wait for my next visit cant recommend this store high enough.

Fantastic addition to Formby Village. Superb range of yarns from hand dyed to the standard ranges of yarn. Lovely range of baby yarn and cottons. Something for everyone be it beginner or experienced knitter or crocheter. Lots of lovely accessories and books at reasonable prices.The owner Michaela is lovely, very knowledgeable about the yarns and willingly to help anyone.A little bit of paradise and well worth a visit

Visited for the first time this morning and I will be back. Lovely shop with a fantastic range of wool both colours and brands. Michaela was so helpful when I said I wanted to try knitting socks; sharing her knowledge and directing me to online support. We had a lovely chat about all things wool and crafting.
