The Brogue Trader T/A Loake Shoemakers

Fantastic. Went in after finally making the decision to invest in a shoe of quality as opposed to buying something mediocre for a fraction of the price.Items were a 1/4-1/3 more than my initial price range, but after taking the time to weigh and understand the return on investment in forking out a little more, and with assistance from the skilled staff who kindly took their time in helping me narrow down the model of my preference and in answering all of my questions regarding the world of leather shoes , in which they were knowledgeable , I left with a pair of tidy brogue shoes. I told myself I didn't need any new shoes and I was on holiday, but who can walk past a Loake shop without at least taking a look inside?! The store is fairly new in Edinburgh having arrived (I believe) at the beginning of 2017, and whilst the branding is Loake, it does not belong to the Northampton company but rather a small but growing shoe business called The Brogue Trader.When I walked in, there was only one member of staff there (Rob?) who was serving another customer who told me that a colleague would be back soon to assist me. There was a good selection from the Loake range on display, and my eyes were drawn to a pair of Loake Chesters in mahogany. Before I went any further, I asked if it would be possible for any shoes I purchased to be sent to my home address as I had flown to Edinburgh and would have limited luggage space - there was no problem with this, and they would be courier free of charge!A short time later, the other member of staff returned and I was introduced to James. I told him what I was looking at and he took me through the fitting, including measuring my feet for the first time in about 25 years! Although I'm usually a size 10G, James felt that the Chester with its narrower F fitting would be okay and I tried on a 10 and a 9.5. The 10 was too large, and the 9.5 was almost perfect - a little tight in some places, but to be expected with a brand new shoe. I tried the 10 again but with an insole, but the 9.5 was the better fit.So, the shoes I didn't need were duly purchased! James took all of my details and explained their loyalty card - buy 6 pairs from a Brogue Trader store, and get the 7th free (based on average cost of the previous 6 pairs)! Absolutely stellar service, which was even more evident on my return home: a few days later my shoes were delivered, and once I removed the delivery box, the shoe box was perfectly wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string - proper old-fashioned customer service!

Was served by James for some brogues for my wedding and honestly the service was top notch, he's obviously very passionate about his craft and that energy spills into his service. Very happy with my wedding brogues, I'm sure to be returning soon.

I used their sole replacement service. Very friendly and professional staff. I personally like the shopkeepers here more the one in the London City branch. The timescale for the repair was communicated clearly up-front and the price for the whole service was very decent.I will definitely used them again.

Exceptional selection of high quality shoes. The knowledge of the salesman was superb, from production to wearing and care of the leather, the sole and the whole shoe. Thoroughly recommend this company and this shop. We even bought shoes, went to the castle and came back as they held the shoes until we finished sight seeing top class service

A very lovely Shop with the most excellent service and advice I have ever had. Actually my wife and I just came in to have a look. I told the clerk hat I would look around at first. Nevertheless we startet chatting very friendly and were soon discussing various types of shoes and lasts. A coffee was offered too.I tried several black oxfords - never before I was assisted to get into the shoes in such an elegant and wonderful way.Finally I chose a pair (the Hanover, wich was a must have since we are from Hanover, GER). Although I might will not shop here very regulary I recieved a customer card to collect stamps for a special offer.Special thanks and best wishes to the two wonderful gentlemen. We (and that includes my wife too, although the shop has only men shoes) really enjoyed the visit there.

I received excellent service from the staff. They were friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable about their products. I would highly recommend this business for getting a top quality pair of shoes.
