Really beautiful old building and I loved my room. Unfortunately the bath had mould around it and also had a ripped shower curtain, considering I had a superior room and paid a lot of money this was disappointing. Only 6 parking spaces at the hotel, so you have to park in the next door car park with a voucher.

We had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. The hotel's history gives it such character, and our room was delightful. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the hotel - the food was good and the staff very friendly and helpful! The location is fantastic. We will book in again if returning to Salisbury.

In May 2023 I had the privilege of celebrating my 50th birthday in this lovely historic hotel. Nested in the heart of Salisbury, in the quiet southern county of Wiltshire, The Red Lion Hotel is a short walk away from the famous 13th century Salisbury cathedral and about 9 miles away from the iconic Stonehenge. Thou the lighting and decor of the hotel needs updating, the overall atmosphere was lively and inviting. The food was great, compliments to the head chef Khadive Douglas. The staffs where polite and professional, and I would recommend this hotel.

Rooms were a little tired. Breakfast ordered from the table was nice when it was quiet, but buffet style later on was a shame.Lovely Bar, Lovely looking hotel, middle of Salisbury.

A really old hotel with lots of character. My room was well equipped and modern, others needed refreshing. Some of the rooms are quite a walk down twisty corridors. Reception and the bar service was patchy, with no one there on occasions

The location is excellent, close to all attractions, especially weekend market. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very eco, they would make the room only on request, we liked it. The courtyard itsekf is very beautiful, good for a photographer. We enjoyed staying here.

I was disappointed as the 2 things I wanted 1 sleep 2 a good breakfast I didn't get, the traffic and general to and froing and people shouting and screaming through the night meant I got no sleep. I excitedly went down for breakfast and all bar the sausage it was stone cold, apparently due to an agency chef, the waitresses tried their best and was running around like mad trying to appease customers, as I was due to leave I was finally asked if I wanted tea, and I was pleased they had decaf cappuccino, and it raised a smile. It is a beautiful place with lots of history. The room was clean and tidy , good shower and a little bit quirky. Disappointed with evening menu so dined elsewhere.

Don't accept a room in the 70s-80s as rads don't work and you also need to take thermals if you want to sit in the lounge or use the restaurant as place cold and draughty. Given totally inadequate portable heater (size of A4 sheet) to heat the room but it was useless. Last 24 hours of visit no hot water either.
