Olly was amazing!! He was really flexible around timings for a weekend of tuition and tailored his teaching to what we really needed (lots of parking!!!). I had never been in a sailing boat before, though my husband had, and we had our 2 and 4 year old on the boat too, none of which phased Olly at all. He managed to teach me some basics without my husband getting bored, but also expanded theory and detail for my husband. An incredibly useful and fun weekend - we both learned loads. Olly is a font of practical tips and advice, and was really friendly and patient. I would definitely highly recommend!!

Just wanted to say how wonderful Olly was . We instructed him to deliver our yacht from Oban to Whitehaven . He did this in a timely manner and kept us updated at all times . On arrival at the marina he ensured she was cleaned , fuel filled and ready for us to take delivery . At all times during communication he was really helpful and always professional to the utmost !I believe he went above and beyond his duty as even after delivery he was super helpful offering advice !I would absolutely recommend Olly !

Following a really useful, pragmatic survey of my new yacht Olly provided professional, knowledgeable advice and then 2 days of excellent support. He helped me deliver the yacht in 35 knots of wind arriving in a difficult harbour at night that he knew and so made easy. He is a hands on problem solver and experienced and safe skipper.I would recommend him highly and will use him again.

I needed a boat moved from one marina down the coast to another so it could be lifted out for onwards transport --- at the last minute I couldn't do it. Olly did it at a good price - taking care of all the communications with the broker and both marina's to ensure a smooth handover. Would def recommend.

Olly recently surveyed a boat that I was considering buying. He responded quickly to my enquiry, he surveyed the vessel promptly and he delivered his report when he said he would.Ultimately, it was Olly’s survey and follow up conversations with him that convinced me not to purchase the boat. Although I’m an experienced boat owner, Olly highlighted a number of detailed issues which I had not spotted. His report was extremely detailed and comprehensive but his overall assessment was based on facts rather than opinion. He made sure that I was fully informed in relation to the decision making process rather than trying to make a decision for me.If you are considering the purchase of a boat, I strongly recommend Olly as a surveyor - his fee is an investment rather than a cost.

Olly did a brilliant job during lockdown of getting my new (to me) Contessa ready for launch. Olly was very adaptable and managed to get loads done on her in a relatively short time. In difficult circumstances (we couldn’t meet as I couldn’t travel) his communication was excellent - working off a spreadsheet of jobs and sharing pictures of progress, potential hitches and pragmatic solutions via phone and WhatsApp, I wouldn’t hesitate to use his services again or to recommend him to others.

Olly was fantastic. I contacted him to see if he could conduct a survey at quite short notice and he was so flexible to accommodate ferries and winter weather. The actual survey took Olly about 8 hours! The report was 32 pages too and incredibly detailed. I had a number of conversations with Olly prior to the survey day and the following day to discuss his findings. He had to work around packed lockers and all that stuff that you accumulate on board, but Olly still managed to get to everything he needed to. He has obviously a huge amount of practical boating experience and has a very pragmatic view of what's really important from an insurance and especially seaworthiness and life safety point of view. My Jeanneau Melody is new to me (just got her a few months ago and I’ve not really had a lot of time to get to know all about her inside and out) but Olly found out so many useful things that I hadn't discovered yet. It is the best survey I've ever had and well worth the time and money.Thank you Olly!

Olly was tasked to bring Tintin (Ovni 435) back to seaworthiness after more than a year laid up ashore and I can honestly say it was a pleasure to deal with him and his colleagues throughout the process.Although lockdown meant things were difficult at the start of the process Olly was upbeat and proactive in dealing with anything that was thrown his way. Nothing was too much of a problem and there was always a plan clearly outlined and communicated as he worked through the process of getting Tintin back into the water. Olly's engaging manner and humour make him a joy to work with.In summary, I was very impressed with the way Olly handled everything and would highly recommend him to others considering using his services.

I wish to commend Oliver Cotterell for a great friendly timely and very professional service he provided me with during delivery time of my sailing boat from Glasgow to Algarve.
