Lovely food and relaxed environment. Vegetarian and gluten free alternatives offered too. Can get busy so booking advisable...highly recommended though

We ate at the Rose and Crown tonight after reading the reviews. On arrival the lady behind the bar was lovely but it went down hill from there .It took ages to take our order, I am GF and I did not trust the food as the young lady serving could even tell me if the Garlic mushrooms were strong as I quote ‘ I have tried them’ so we had to ask her to ask. The two people serving didn’t seem to know what GF was . Also the chips came undercooked and the chicken came out burnt. We had to wait for ages for the food to come out , so we didn’t complain as I’m sure it would have taken longer to get it sorted. We wanted to order more drinks and a pudding but know one then came near the table to ask. In the end we had to go to the bar to pay. I definitely did not enjoy the experience and the staff need more training on how to recognise when it’s time to approach the table !

Location is OK. Plenty of parking.Toilet is OK but could do with a hourly clean. Food has to be a hit or miss. We've been 3 times and it's been good and then the 4th time it was bearable. Been 2x more and it's been okish.At the moment it has a zero out of 5 star rating but I believe that it is a mistake by council food safety etc.Downside to the pub is the beer garden. You have to cross a main busy road to get to it and the beer seating area is small. Not much privacy or sheltering.

We stayed the night , had dinner and breakfast here. Both were good and the young staff keen and efficient. The negatives were the ‘beer garden’ which wasn’t very pleasant and the Venetian blind in our room was broken so we couldn’t pull it up to see the view. The bed was extremely comfortable. I would stay here again.

Good clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Evening food is very good. Staff polite , helpful and friendly. Only criticism is breakfast. Previously there were better options and nothing too much trouble. Now only two options on menu, full English (a little greasy) or vegetarian. A small table with tea/coffee, optional juices on request. Toaster, few cereals options. Some yogurts sat on table getting warm and not refrigerated. A massive change from previous choices. A very good place to stay, excellent evening food. Would strongly recommend

We booked the Rose and Crown as a surprise meal for my mum's 80th birthday and it did not disappoint. The staff allowed us to turn up early with flowers, balloons and table decorations and they did the decorating for us. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were a party of 7 and each one of us enjoyed our meals. Food was well presented hot and good portions. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Rose and Crown and will be coming back again soon.17.10.2023

Been here a few times for food, was very good. Went here 30/6/23 and it was the most disgusting meal I've ever had in my life. Haddock was flooded in Grease and the chips were rock hard, I'm convinced the fish and chips were from day before and re-cooked. I complained and nobody flicked an eye-lid. Definitely a different unqualified chef cooking yesterday. Should be sacked on the spot.

Breakfast was absolutely stonking! Great value for money. Bacon tasted delicious. Waffles definitely hit the spot. Would certainly recommend and will definitely return. Shame it wasn't busier.

The food and service were great. Portion size was good overall, and it was great value for money. Pity we were the only people in for breakfast, should be much busier with being such good value and quality food

I have a severe dairy and nut allergy, before booking a table I called and asked if they were able to cater for me. They said yes and seemed very professional over the phone. The staff was very friendly but unfortunately my starter and my main gave me a minor reaction. We didn’t finish our meal and rushed to the shop to get me allergy tablets.The food was average and disappointing as a whole.
