Chess Lessons

My Partner Michael was gifted an hours lesson with Ernest as a Christmas present. I cannot express how pleased my Partner was with this experience. Highly recommend Ernest to anyone looking to re-ignite their passion for chess or just after some top tips to improve their knowledge/strategy/game play etc. He is a great teacher, with a treasure trove of knowledge at his finger tips. If you want to learn properly the rules of the games while understanding the various principles, I highly recommend lessons with Ernest. I have tried many private teachers but I have never understood the strategies as I do with him. I have improved so much in a failry short time. He is super patient and very thorough and doesn't get tired of re explaining. He is definitely a top-notch teacher.

I can't recommend Ernest highly enough - it was a brilliant tutorial that not only made me look at my game, but it also reinvigorated my love of chess. Ernest is a superb teacher and I will definitely be in touch again for a refresher lesson. If you are thinking of a chess lesson for yourself or as a gift then look than no further.

Ernest is a truly amazing teacher, I’ve always thought chess is a “boring”activity, but after one lesson with him, he made me realize the fascinating part about chess.

I was a casual, occasionally competitive Chess player (~1500 ecf rated) who had lessons with Ernest for 3 months while in between jobs.Ernest did a great job of pressure testing my opening play, helping me understand strategic principles, seeing patterns and creating opportunities, and endgame strategy.What was also really fantastic was that Ernest was also available between lessons to share written feedback on puzzles (which he would set as homework) but also on tricky positions that I have found myself in games and what I should have done and why.I really enjoyed my lessons (and will look to continue these) and my play has certainly improved. I would kindly thank and highly recommend Ernest!

Ernest is a good chess teacher! Perfect for beginners like me who had no experience. He is very patient, considerate, and helpful. Would highly recommend everyone to book his lessons!

I had a lesson with Ernest on the French Defence.Ernest has a very clear way of explaining the material which was easy for me to follow the ideas and the lines he was showing me.
