Salterford Dam CL

Idyllic does not begin to describe this site, it is better than that! Quiet and peaceful. Fishing was terrific. Scenery out of this world. Facilities far better than basic, very clean shower and washrooms. Loads of hot water and less than 100 metres for water and Elsan disposal. The lake is 50 yards away and you can easily imagine you are in the middle of nowhere. Brian the owner, is a wealth of information and very happy to chat, but never intrusive. I was loathe to post this, because I really don't want too many people to know about it! But, it deserves this recommendation.

Extremely peaceful, beautiful woodland. Lots of wildlife. Lots of space

I would like to post a response to the last 2 reviews about our site.The one complaining about the rubbish is unfortunately true our waste removal company failed to tell us that they had been unable to get to us due to staff shortages. This was sorted very quickly once we were made aware of the situation.The last review is from a lady who is publicly trying to damage our business after a total misunderstanding on her part.Please look at our reviews on the caravan club website. Salterford dam is a beautiful place to visit

Lovely site in very quiet location, the lake is beautiful

Ourselves and my parents stayed on this site in August 22. In some ways the site was perfect. It was flat, spacious, quiet, well sheltered and the onsite woodlands and lake were great for walking the dogs in. The trees provided some welcome shade on what was a very hot weekend. We were hoping it would become a regular site to visit for weekends as its only 45 mins away from us.However, its not what we would call a true CL. Three quarters of the way down the field there was a small low level fence. There were already 6 units on the CL side and a further 4 units the other side of the 'token' fence. There were then another 4 static/lodge units and what appeared to be a seasonal tourer near the toilet/shower block. ALL these units (and their visitors, of which there were many!) used the same entrance, water tap and facilities. The facilities themselves would have been great (seperate male/female) had they been clean. They were dirty when we arrived and werent cleaned at all during our 3 night stay. There was also no toilet paper available....so go prepared. It says its a family run site but nobody lives onsite and i understand the owner actually lives quite some distance away in another county. There was also no information availabe about who to contact in the event of an emergency etc.I know others have stated the facilities were clean so maybe we were just unlucky. If you are not bothered about the facilities or willing to take a chance then go for it, but for us, it needs some work......and a lot less units on the site!

1st time staying here but would definitely come back.Lovely spacious pitches and secured gate.Toilets/showers are clean and roomy and the service area was well laid out.The walk round the lake was a lovely way to end the day

We have just returned from another stay at salterford damn pitches are large with electric the showers are huge lovely and hot. Great recycling facility'sPerfect to just unhitch amble round the lakes and woods and do nothing.Lots of wildlife 3 nuthatchers on our bird feeder woodpeckers and even a fleeting glimpse of a kingfisherVery woofer friendly

Beautiful scenery, very quiet, ideal place for a relaxing break,even fishing if that's your preference. Remember there is no WiFi there.
