Dale Abbey
Amazing find in my local area. The abbey was founded in 1162 and while not much remains, the ruins of the east window from the abbey church are still impressive

Dale Abbey
Nice to fling a drone around.Carpenters Arms is also a very nice pub and the Friars House cafe is just pure cake heaven while staring at that classic Alfa spider with a coffee and a vape. My kinda place and my kinda people love Dale Abbey it's a beautiful parish village

Dale Abbey
I like Dale Abbey. It's a pleasant village, with a nice pub, but the best for me is its history. There is only one gable end of the original abbey with little background information. There is also the famous hermit cave which pre-dates the abbey, and indeed is the reason for the old abbey being built there.

Dale Abbey
This place is easily accessible and there is parking. There are multiple walks in the area that can incorporate Dale Abbey. The ruins are in good condition and the grounds are well kept.

The abbey is a ruin, as shown below, within walking distance of the local church and is well worth a visit to view the historical value of the abbey. On the grounds, which is private property, you may be able to ask the owner if you could look in his barn at the relics that have been found on the premises over the years

Dale Abbey
Visited the Abbey ruins as part of my exploration of Dale Abbey whilst on a nearby campsite. It’s easy to get to and see the arch, which once was the great east window, is pretty much all that is left and accessible to the public. Many other sections/parts of the Abbey have been incorporated into private properties in the village thereby not accessible to the general public.Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Lovely walks here. The stop for a rest and a drink in the garden at the Carpenters Arms was great too.
