Nice quiet stop over. No one about from the CL to show us where things were but a boater helped. Good job we paid in advance! Nice cafe on site. Site Toilets could do with a good clean. Chemical disposal is in an unmarked green building to the right of the entrance in the car park.

We had a lovely 3 night stay last weekend. The site was peaceful and the hardstanding pitches completely level. It was an easy walk into Dewsbury (the Saturday Market is not to be missed). The local Asda, about 15 mins walk, is huge! We found the toilets very clean although the shower is a bit basic. The Leggers Inn, on site, is great...Real ale, reasonably priced and very good food. Make sure to book if you want the fantastic Sunday lunch/dinner. We found the young staff in the bar and waiting on pleasant and happy to help. It was a really good atmosphere.

We had our 2nd stay at this little hidden gem of a CL this weekend - what a great little find it has been. The welcome is warm and the host, Gordon, is really helpful - as are the pub staff. There is a lovely towpath walk for the dogs, (I saw nesting swans there this morning). The coffee shop is not open as yet due to Covid staffing issues but that is worth a visit when open as is the pub which serves food and allows dogs on a lead in the bar area. Don't let the industrial area approach put you off - once on site you would not know it was there. Worth having a long water hose or a water as the standpipe may be a little way from your unit if you are at the end.We are visiting family in the area again in June and have booked this site for another two occasions.

A pleasant place to stop over. Canals to walk along and a bar and restaurant on the door step.

We stayed at Savile Town wharf marina whilst travelling north to a wedding in Hexham, it provided a convenient overnight stop for us as it was not a great distance from The Hepworth at Wakefield, another place we wanted to visit. The site was easy to find and all the pitches are hard standing and level. Electricity hookup and water hookup are both available. It is quite and peaceful. The Leggers inn is a short distance away and this did not disturb us either. Dogs can be walked around the marina and there is a walk alongside the canal on the otherside. Perfect for an overnight stop.

Abdolutely diabolical. Couldnt book online, called no answer, turned up and paid at the bar with the lovely staff. Had 3 pints each, went back to the camper and cooked tea drank a couple more then a man approached us says he was the owner and that we didnt book through him so had to leave as he has a wedding party camping who paid for the pitches from Friday to sunday (this was the sunday) 2 campers there. Threatened to phone the police if we didnt move but i explained it was my daughters birthday and she was sat in the camper with a broken foot and id spent at least £26 on alcohol in his bar. Absolutely fuming. He gave us our money back and told us to leave but there was no way i was going to drink and drive never mind with a child. Beware please i would hate anyone to have a drink and be told to leave as they didnt book with the owner directly

Excellent campsite located at the Marina. Nice and quiet on an evening. The owner is very welcoming and will go over and above to help you. Perfect for walks or cycling along the canal. Good location to visit The Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield and other attracrions near by. Supermarkets and town center are in walking distance. There is a pub and cafe on site, so if you feel like a night off cooking and a few drinks you havnt got far to walk.

I hate to put bad reviews but have to for here. The site is a car park, people drive in and out freely. The toilets and shower is a metal box and can be used by anybody and is filthy. So is the Elsan point. The pub for food was closed until Wednesday. And the marina was just a storage for long boats, hardly any were lived in. So make your own mind up if you decide to go. This is only my review.

A lot nicer than you'd think. A pub with meals on site & play area for kiddies. The canal links up to the Calder navigational canal & you can cycle on the path either up to Sowerby Bridge or down towards Pugneys lakes area going under the M1 !!
