Great food and hospitality. Well worth a visit now it’s been taken over. Compliments to the chef. He certainly knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. Lovely meal and will certainly revisit. All the very best to the new owners.

I read a review about serving cauliflower with steak but this place makes the best blue cheese sauce I've ever tried. Steak cooked perfectly and the manager is super friendly.Would definitely recommend with it costing as little as it was for the quality provided.

I usually like to use a strong word to start a review but in this case I can’t think of one to describe the experience and food here…Let’s start on service. On arrival, we were shown to our table, after waiting 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order & give us menus, I had to retrieve the menus myself & ask someone to take our drink order. 3 of the party had carvery & myself & one other had the rump steak. We came here as heard there were new owners. I would expect that means new & improved food. This was the worst carvery I have ever had. Prior to the new owners, the carvery was still disgusting with the old owners. The mash was cold, the gravy was watery & bland, the meat (turkey, pork & beef) was that dry that when I tried my boyfriends, I discreetly spat it out into a napkin. Yorkshire puddings…. aunt Bessie’s finest but unfortunately not that fine - soggy. The steak I had was extremely disappointing. The steak was served with, carrots, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower & broccoli - I mean correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve never ever been served a steak with sides like that - weird. & the vegetables & steak were seasoned with thyme, I absolutely hate thyme seasoning - ruined my meal. Ever had gravy from IKEA? That’s what the peppercorn sauce tasted like, disgusting & disappointing again. It’s a shame really because I had a nice chat with the owner about the bad experience I had prior to them coming in, how awful the food was. He advised they’re working on rebuilding the reputation but personally I don’t think anything has changed. When paying for the food, I was asked how my meal was & I said I would not be returning back & told them all of the above feedback. The response I got from the man was him shrugging his shoulders and said ‘oh ok’. With telling the owner how bad it has been in the past, I would have expected them to have rectified the situation a bit better, instead of a careless response.

Have been coming here for a while now and will continue to do so simply because the food is consistently of a very high standard. The staff are always friendly and accommodating with nothing being too much trouble. I have tried every starter and I still struggle to decide each time I visit as they are all absolutely stunning! The curry dishes too are bursting with flavour .I have also found the chef happy to make dishes that are not on the menu and I haven't been disappointed yet!

Called in for lunch, we were greeted by very friendly staff, menu is limited but I went for the lasagne which was freshly made and piping hot, my other half had classic carbonara which was also freshly made and piping hot. Served with garlic bread and a side dish of nicely dressed salad. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Chatted with the new owners who are originally from Morocco, asked if they would be putting some of their Moroccan dishes on the menu. He did say if you let them know in advance if can be arranged.

At some point in the last couple of years this place has been taken over. The staff are friendly, but inexperienced. The carvery has gone from one of the top ten in the region to a place I wouldn't go back to.The food was barely warm, the offerings and selections no where near as good as the old place. Here's hoping the quality improves, but we won't be going back.
