Julie Ann Northamptonshire Doula

I met Julie Ann when I enquired about doula help when I was pregnant. From her very first reply, she was friendly and extremely helpful. Although I never had a doula in the end, I asked for help when my baby was born as I was having a lot of trouble breastfeeding. She came and did a home visit, watched a whole feed and was brilliant. She gave me the confidence I needed in my journey and having her to talk to was lovely too. She has stayed in touch afterwards even after I didn’t need her help anymore and regularly will send positive thoughts my way. She has been amazing!

I had the most amazing experience with Julie-Ann as our doula.I became pregnant 7 months after a c-section and was determined to have a physiological birth.Julie-Ann was so supportive and knowledgable.I ended up having the most perfect homebirth turned freebirth. I had Leo last year December 2020, he was my first baby, so not only did it scare me to have my first baby, I also had my first baby during the covid global pandemic. There were no pre natal classes, my partner couldnt attend any appointments, I felt I was on my own and was offered no real support. Later on in my pregancy I was offered online group support over zoom, this wasnt for me as I felt I had too many questions. A friend then gave me Julies number and explained what a doula was, in short a professional who can give their clients personally tailor made support throughout their pregancy. Julie offers online support, face to face, and will even be on standby to join you at the hospital when your baby comes. She is also an expert in breastfeeding and can give you support pre and post baby on how to do this with your baby. She is also an expert in hypnobirthing, which can help you feel more positive and calm about the whole experience. Any questions I have ever asked her, she has gone above and beyond to find me answers, I have never felt silly asking her any kind of question, and she was great with giving me contacts of different professionals that are better suited for certain support. Above all she has a heart of gold and will love your birthing journey and your baby no matter your story.

Julie Ann has been there for my family in the months leading up to the birth of our son and more recently helping look after him on a regular basis. Her doula course was incredibly informative but most importantly it was always fun and relaxed, and no topics are off bounds. Julie Ann has been 100% reliable, professional, communicable and so warm and genuine, you really feel she is on your side. It was without a doubt the best decision hiring Julie Ann as a duola. She has made the experience more enjoyable, given me confidence to make evidence based decisions but also just to listen to and understand my body. It was also a wonderful thing to have done together with my husband and it has given him support and reassurance. Julie Ann is truly a uniquely beautiful person.

I sought out a Doula around 17 weeks of pregnancy via Kemi on Instagram and Julie Ann was my Angel that answered my call. When first speaking with her on the phone we instantly clicked and she “got me”. Since then she has been nothing but an absolute gem and has been there supporting me throughout my entire pregnancy. I had planned for a homebirth but ended up requiring an abdominal birth due to major placenta previa and she helped me plan for an elective caesarean, she helped conduct a birth plan, reassured me of my thoughts, feelings and helped me to seek additional support within the maternity services when I went into threatened pre-term labour at 26 weeks. She was there for me like nobody else was and provided me with links to evidence based research and followed my judgement in situations. Julie Ann supported me postnatally with breastfeeding (something I never got to do successfully with my first born) and here I am almost 7 weeks postpartum exclusively breastfeeding my daughter who was born abdominally at 36 weeks pregnant.I couldn’t recommend Julie Ann enough and would consider her a friend, a confidant, an Angel, a blessing in disguise.Whether you’re planning for a free birth, home birth, hospital birth, caesarean birth or needing an antenatal or a postnatal doula.. she will be there for you and the comfort she provides makes a massive difference.Thank you so much Julie Ann.
